Seeing as everything reviewed so far is actually music, it automatically makes it higher than a 0. Objectively, unless somebody released a 3 minute long fart into a microphone, I don't see it. Especially when people are openly bashing/mocking an artist in one thread, then coming in here to give them a 0. Then go back to edit their scores, after finding out you can give 0's.
I'm not even too fussed about the Rihanna song, I just find it annoying how even something like this can't be policed fairly.

A lot of people don't see it that way. As Raava said, some people are very lenient in terms of giving out positive reviews- for one person, it may not take as good of a song to earn a 10 than another. The same goes for zeroes. I gave Chasing The Sun a 0.5, but I saw some other very negative reviews that gave the song a 2-4. It all depends on how someone grades.
I understand that some people have come in here with an agenda, and I'm debating on what to do about it. You may hear more from me later tonight.

^ Other people are giving the track very positive reviews, so you should just count all of them. Obviously many of the users on this board don't view the music objectively and give an unbiased opinion like they should... It really isn't that serious.

Nothing was done when people came in with "agendas" to review other songs such as 7/11, Flawless Remix, Anaconda, etc., so the idea that it needs to be taken care of now seems biased af

Rihanna, Kanye West, and Paul McCartney - FourFiveSeconds
A lot has changed in the music industry since Rihanna released her last album, 2012's Unapologetic. What hasn't changed, though, is her lack of writing credits and vocal ability. The lead single from her upcoming eighth album, FourFiveSeconds, features two of the biggest music stars ever, nine other writers, and scratchy vocals from the Bajan beauty herself.
On first listen, I thought the song was a joke. The song only gets funnier as Kanye West attempts to sing while some unknown person screams in the background. The only redeeming part of the song, the bridge, is short and sounds out of place on this wannabe indie-folk song. Try again, Riri. I'm 'bout FourFiveSeconds from turning this off.

I personally don't think 0 reviews should be allowed. It's a lot easier to have a perfect song (10) than to have a song that gets absolutely nothing right (0). I mean to give a 0 to a song it would have to be out of tune with offbeat production and no audible lyrics. Every song that doesn't do that should get at least a 1 or 2 even if its the worst pop song of the year.

That's subjective. Someone else might think a song deserves a zero if the singer sounds bad. It's all opinion based and a zero is just as valid as a ten.

A note:
I was not in charge of this thread for the Flawless Remix and Anaconda. I was in charge for 7/11 but that actually ended up with a positive score, and there wasn't so much controversy.
Anyways, I will count all reviews this time. But I'm pondering a resolution to this type of controversy so that it does not happen again.

I think the 0 and .5 reviews should be counted.
All of the reviews, maybe with the exception of one, were well-written with a score that was somewhat justified, in the context of the review at least, and follow the rules of the thread. This probably doesn't help, but I did laugh out loud at a line or two. I liked reading them
Obviously if people disagree with the reviews being handed in, they can come in and rate themselves. That's how I see it anyway.
I'm going to try and do a review song and Fall Out Boy soon.

Yeah but two of them basically admitted that they did it unprofesionally.

the entire point of a review is to give your subjective take on the music. if someone chooses to give the song a 0, so be it, because that's how they feel about it. they have as much a right to give ffs a 0 as anyone else does a 10. that's just the prerogative of anyone in the position of 'music critic'.

0s should NOT be counted.
No piece of music deserves 0, and FFS certainly don't.

In a world of rush releases, pop emergencies, and the ever present label of BEYONCÉ'd, Rihanna remained quiet, having waited over two years since her last release. Artists take breaks all the time, but for an artist known to remain a near omnipresence around the top of the charts with A-Game material, this absence was abnormally quiet, especially by Rihanna standards. The track features fellow recording veterans Kanye West and Paul McCartney. Compared to snippeted songs from the hush hush R8 sessions, FFS is quite underwhelming. While her contemporaries have all owned simple acoustic tracks in the past, this is a semi-first for Rihanna, especially for a lead single. Rihanna's vocals by itself are homely, but feel as though she's going out of it's way to be imperfect. The production is a disappointment, the song never feels like it's going anywhere, lost amidst it's collaborators, unable to find it's place almost. The chorus is nearly beautiful, simple guitar, Rih and Kanye impress, but on his verses, Kanye feels weird, with a small voice interrupted with his own (is it Paul's?). Rihanna never hits the mark for the great, relatable and down to Earth delivery that it looks like she was aiming for, simply giving it her average to nearly annoying the entire time. When it seems like it's finally her time to shine, the guitars fade out, with a sort of church organ accompanying her shrill, brassy, flat notes and her awkward delivery. It reminds this reviewer of a leaked Madonna demo in that the production is charming for an unfinished piece, but you can hear where it so desperately needed to be fixed.
For what seems to be a spiritual successor to Cheers (Drink to That)'s catchiness and fun, whether it's the attempt at capturing the fleeting nature of life or Rihanna trying to gain credibility with critics who claim her music has no substance, her and this track falter, leaving the final piece devoid of the same charm it's predecessor had and ultimately making her big return to the music scene a decisive mistake. If her past albums and material has proved anything, it's that even a bad lead single doesn't indicate that we should count Rihanna out, only the full R8 album will prove if her reign won't let up.

I have no problem with a grade of zero. But why give zero if you write something good about the song. Just does not make sense.

But it is absolutely pointless to write one positive thing about the song and then give a score of zero!

I guess the rest of the song is just so bad that it cancels out any positive aspect!

Rihanna, Kanye West, and Paul McCartney - FourFiveSeconds
Rihanna finally made her rihturn with a new single after an uncharacteristically long period of being, relatively, quiet. Her lead singles and album announcements have always been huge events, led by fanfare, iTunes domination, media saturation, and eventual chart take-overs. "I think I've had enough / I might get a little drunk / I say what's on my mind..." she begins "FourFiveSeconds"; and are there truer lines to describe Rihanna? She's possibly the most genuine appearing pop star in the game right now, unapologetic, and seemingly proud of it. Strangely though, as much as the lyrics may describe Rihanna, they don't really describe Rihanna's singles, especially her leads (and this may be her lead). Rihanna has a distinct personality, but she rarely talks about herself in her songs which makes "FourFiveSeconds" stand out.
"FourFiveSeconds" stands out all around from the majority of Rihanna's music. It's not a huge ballad, it's not a dance anthem, it's not Caribbean accented R&B, it's not even sleek dance-pop. "FourFiveSeconds" is a gentle and easy-going singer-songwriter styled song. It's a bit jarring at first. Rihanna may have a genuine personality, but she also is the face of high fashion in pop music; not only that, her music often is tightly focused and polished, labored over by songwriters and producers and this new song is seemingly designed to be the opposite of all of that. Badgalriri, letting loose, if you will.
Whether or not this is Rihanna turning over to a more rootsy approach to her music, or is just going through the motions to make things appear that way (lowkey single drops, Paul McCartney features, and Dirty Projector backing assistance, and lyrics about wanting the week to be over seem to lean toward the latter) doesn't matter. The song is an easy-to-listen-to little ditty that's sunny and pleasant, the bright morning after the darker brooding of Unapologetic and Yeezus. It's Rihanna exploring her sound, it's Kanye singing about being an optimist, it's got an organ-inflicted bridge, it's got gremlins as backing singers, it's everything you never knew you wanted in a pop song; at least that's all I want. "FourFiveSeconds" is a step up from Rihanna after a couple albums of her stepping up, a genuine change in direction or not, she's opening up and that's refreshing; an early highlight of 2015 and, hopefully, a promise of what's to come.
