I don't think it works like that.. She and her label would use that plataform anyway, so why release "official" material so early? It doesn't make sense at all.

I think this buzz single thing was carefully planned since the beginning. I mean, the album is tentatively scheduled for a release in March, 2013! They are testing radio reception. This is probably a gift to her urban fanbase and other devetod fans. She knows how the music industry runs right now, therefore she'll release (I hope) something pop as lead single (probably in January). December would be nice, but her big selling Christmas hit will take over the place. And it will get a new peak on the Billboard Hot 100 this time (Billboard's rules have changed).

I'm glad "Triumphant" reached #1 on that BET's countdown.

Nobody ever said this was the lead single in the first place. Mariah has been calling it an urban advance single from the beginning.

Exactly. I don't have a problem with flop lead singles, at all. "Through the Rain" was only a success overseas and it tanked in the U.S. The point is: "Triumphant" is an advanced promo single. The album will be released in 2013, therefore this could never be the real lead single. The label never called it a lead single, if I'm not mistaken. She clearly did it for fun. I think Mariah loves this track to death for personal reasons and she wanted to release it no matter what.
