I just got a WP for being off topic. Could a mod please look through this thread and reconsider?

When this topic was created yesterday (asking if people had listened to the music of Janet Jackson), I contributed to the discussion on topic stating that I had and was going to post proof later (as the OP had asked for people to submit proof) and explained to another person why they might prefer a different album of hers.
I've acted similarly in other threads asking if people had listened to an artist's music (the threads asking if people have listened to the music of Michael Jackson and the music of Aaliyah)
Today in that thread, a person living in Japan stated that Janet wasn't as big in her appeal there as others like Mariah Carey. Wanting to understand that perspective more, I asked how big Mariah was there to gain some perspective on the overall topic.
Cap10Planet answered that question, but disagreeing with what he said, we exchanged replies with each other. We realized we weren't seeing eye to eye and the discussion reached a natural end.
At that point, somebody else interjected accusing me of "trying" something with Mariah. I responded to clarify that I had no malicious intentions and that my question was to determine how Mariah was received there. That person then replied and asked if I had another question, to which I did ask another question, in order to find out more about the topic.
The point is, I was not posting a thread in the wrong forum, and I wasn't posting something that came out of nowhere. It was a discussion that may have gone off tangent, but it stemmed from a discussion of the original topic (the appeal and popularity of Janet Jackson)
at Kworb having to explain more than once and y'all still complaining 
It's evolved into a bit of an all-purpose pop culture chat thread but that's fine.
