First, there's no need for the condescension, civilized conversation is possible every now and then. Could you give some examples? Again, I'm speaking from the perspective of a book-reader, where her self-doubt is a much larger part of her character. I've noticed it's been getting slowly better lately now that she's in Meereen - which is kind of a necessity considering the arc is all about testing her ability to rule - but even that is just slowly entering the fray and there was a LONG stretch of time where Dany never truly questioned if she was making the right decision. After Drogo died, the material she was given was mostly "give me what is mine by right, free the slaves, burn the masters, continue on to the next city." Compared to the books, where she is
constantly repeating to herself "If I look back, I am lost" and wondering if she is turning into her father. It may have something to do with the fact that the show had to excise a major source of her paranoia from her season 2 arc. I'm not necessarily referring to the immediate past in this season, but it's a large reason why her acting has stagnated. The writing of her character just hasn't been subtle in a while, which is why I loved the Jorah scene. While she still maintained that "bad-bitch" face she does so well, it was obviously just a facade. If that's the vulnerability you were addressing, then fair point, and while it's promising, it's just one exception to the standard that was set from season 2 to early season 4.
Sorry if this sends someone on a tirade about book-readers' supposed superiority complex, just my perspective.
