True. And it did well as Mariah was extremely popular anyways. But Utada took American R&B almost single-handedly and made it mainstream and also accessible to Japanese so it wasn't foreign anymore.

But regardless, I'm glad this is doing something somewhere. It's grown on me.

However, Mariah was already one of the top-selling acts in Japan when Utada came out. And she was an urban pop singer since Daydream - not pure R&B. But still... I mean, Music Box, Merry Christmas, Daydream, Butterfly were certified Million.
