What people are getting confused with is, this is not most "commercial success" artist of all time. I take these list like a grain of salt, however it's about the music ARTIST. Which IMO is someone bringing the music to life through their voice, dancing, fashion ect...and also influence on others. I think Janet did get snubbed as well as a few other, which is why I take these like a grain of salt. Half of the artist today go in the booth record a song and go home, let alone know where E Flat is on the piano. Why is Britney Spears even being mentioned? Why don't we just add Miley Cyrus while we're at it.

If anything, that list it’s quite insulting.
Aretha, Janis Joplin, Diana Ross, Madonna, Tina, Mariah, Mary and many others have PAVED the way for THIS generation so I don’t understand how artists like Beyonce and Alicia are BEFORE them. It really doesn’t make sense. If they are going to make lists like these, the least they could do is place them in order (generation) in which they came by their influence in music. As time goes on, artists like Alicia and Beyonce and the ones who come after them, have it a lot EASIER than someone like Aretha. You think artists, especially female (black) artists, from the 50s and 60s, hell even the 70s, had endorsement deals and all the other luxurious perks that these artists today lavish in? LOL!
I would love to know what barriers and doors have anyone from THIS generation broken down?

so only old and dead people has the right to be on that list

I just find this list insulting, are we really supposed to believe ONLY 11 women have helped change the face of music, a few of those haven't even achieved that, yet there are 89 men who have done more work.
Please the men in the music industry get it sooo damn easy, they hardly seem to put any effort into their visuals , whether it be concerts, photo-shoots, and videos. But the women are the ones who bust their butts running this industry, trying to change not only the visuals that go into each campaign but also their sound, and are more apt at experimentation than the majority of the men on this list.
Yes, music is about writing and producing, and all that good stuff...but I feel as though the women go that extra mile.
Also, where are the country female artists, without Dolly Parton Whitney Houston wouldn't even have the biggest hit of her career, the song that really cemented her status in the industry. And not even a single female latin artist, it's just ridiculous.
And don't even get me started on the exclusion of Celine, and Janet......

The exact same thing with Grammys.

Above all else, that is why it's Madonna, and The Rest. The Rest has some good women, for sure, but they cannot be at the same level, for he reasons stated. Lady Gaga aspires to be, and she probably is the closest of all the "wanna-bes" to to having the qualities that make Madonna Madonna (the music, shaking things up, the vision, etc.)- but even she acknowledged that Madonna's done it all and there could never be a "new Madonna."

Actually no Sahn, in fields like R&B especially Grammys are very important and have played a MAJOR part in the acclaim of female R&B singers like Aretha, Tina, Mary, Beyonce, and Alicia.
Aretha doesn't have 18 of them for nothing.

No one becomes more important with Grammys sweetheart... that's what you wanna believe.
David Bowie, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley, The Beach Boys, The Supremes/Diana Ross, Neil Young, Queen... (Top10, Top20, Top 30 artists in the list that didn't won a ****ing Grammy).

If these people don't have grammys... it doesn't really matter.
R&B or not, it made look at the whole Grammy committee like a joke.
