She released an album that same year, but w/e. Some artists start a tour after it, others like Madonna perform their new singles... All business in my eyes.

Sure, Beyoncé released an album later that year... nearly 11 months later.

Even if Katy didn't have anything new to promote, it's still a business move. It still promoted her era, putting one last big effort into pushing for sales and iconic moments.
