I don't think that's going to happen. If anything, it might get a streaming boost due to holiday parties, but there's really no way to predict (at least to my knowledge) whether a non-holiday song will get an especially large streaming boost during the holidays.
Its gains on airplay have been decent and steady. If it can keep that up as well as maintain its high on-demand streaming numbers, it might have a chance to sneak in for a week due to other songs falling below it, but this scenario seems rather unlikely at the moment.

It's going to be really exciting to see whether Adele can hold Justin off. If she succeeds, I don't see anything in the foreseeable future that can knock her off the number one spot. "Love Yourself" is still too far behind.

Nah, streaming kinda sucks on Holidays actually, it goes down. I remember "Blank Space" going from 12M streams to like 8M because of it, then it got back and was getting around 11M+ streams

It makes sense tbh!
Streaming is like radio in that sense. There's only a limited amount of time in the day that people will listen to music for, so it's only natural that during the holiday season (when more holiday music is played) that there's less time to play other songs they'd usually play, hence the decrease.

I'm going to be conservative and say that, personally, I see another month for it (if Bieber doesn't release an incredibly popular video for either of his 2 songs)
And then it will fly back to #1 after the 2017 Grammys serving "The Twist" teas

1. As we know Streaming Song chart is based on On-Deman audio plays, video plays and programmed online plays. These components are not equal - programmed plays are less weighted (probably two-times according to buzzanglemusic servise which try to copy BB methodology). I wonder if Hot 100 use rare (unweighted) streams or weighted data. When Gary post SS numbers in Hot100 articles, he uses total unweighted (do you remember Streaming Songs data mess?).
2. What does really YouTube report to Nielsen? I know they use Content ID to count views but do they just report sum of views? I mean - YouTube algorithm choose next video according to our YT account activity and what's popular. It's the reason for example why Uptown Funk! still has huge streaming component or why "I'm Sexy And I Know It" hit 1B milestione on Vevo. Sometimes people just play some playlist and increase number of views of random videos. It's programmed streams or not?
YouTube should report this kind of views separately imo. Also Spotify numbers should be monitored in this kind too.
How does it work right now?

I can say at least 3 weeks are really on-lock (maybe even four at this point). I could see "Hello" being #1 for 12 weeks at least tbh. Thing is that "Sorry" is not doing THAT impressive on sales, gap is getting closer each week but we'll see if "Hello" drops faster on Streaming. And if it's dropped hard by radio

A 12-week run would be astounding. I also think a lot depends on how quickly radio will pick up "When We Were Young". It is soaring on iTunes as we speak and if radio decides to roll with it, it might have a negative effect on Hello's longevity.

Oh, I hadn't read this. Let me see what I can help with...
1. I believe so, for what I understood the methodology of weighting differently applied to Streaming Songs chart's ranks, not for Hot 100 purposes (or at least he didn't mention it). I know those numbers they report are the total ones. The overall points for Streaming Songs chart are unknown. Although, see, I don't think there's too much difference, just when the spots are too close to each other, 'cause "programmed" services are not THAT abundant.
2. I don't think they work that hard to differentiate between which view either manual or automatic. It doesn't matter either way how you get there (although I understand there's some kind of "privilege" if you get to the video automatically), you can skip it or deactivate that annoying option (as I did ) I just think radio streaming is the only one which counts as programmed streaming.

Yes I still have it at #6 with the last days of radio and Spotify updates, but The Hills and Here are close.

10 weeks for Hello are on lock, if Justin won't dethrone ha this week or next week, she is keeping her spot whole Christmas and New Year. And January is a mystery - she easly can hold #1 whole January if Justin and his team won't do nothing. He won't go to #1 just like that. He needs to do something - a video, a remix, a "something". Like we can see, even performances won't help. (or maybe performance of LY would help?)

Mariah Carey, "All I Want for Christmas Is You"
Carey's 1994 classic rises 26-22 on the Hot 100, pushing to within a notch of its No. 21 peak, and remains atop the Holiday 100 chart. It's the top seasonal song in all metrics, leading Holiday Airplay (29 million in all-format audience, up 10 percent), Holiday Streaming Songs (7.5 million U.S. streams, up 37 percent) and Holiday Digital Songs (30,000 downloads sold, up 4 percent).
(Older songs are allowed to chart on the Hot 100 if ranking in the top 50 and showing noteworthy continued gains. Similarly, Brenda Lee's "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" returns at No. 44; it hit No. 14 upon its original chart run in 1960.)
|
Thankfully the new rule on below Top 25 equaling recurrent won't mess with AIWFCIY.
Wonder what they define as old though. And now we know why Drink You Away couldn't debut on Hot 100, it needed enough to go Top 50 and had to had gains the previous weeks which it likely didn't the week of the CMA Performance that made it viral.
