I think most of the people (adults, teenagers and children) who buy music in the UK, tend to buy singles. In the USA most of the adults tend to just buy Albums and children and teenagers tend to buy the singles.

Yeah, adults in the US don't catch on to newer music trends. In the future though, US will most likely be singles based, with the way album sales are going.. but it will be a LONG time before they're irrelevant. Singles based artists aren't as successful as artists that put out an LP every couple years.

Secondly, clearly you haven't looked at the albums chart lately, maybe your too busay lookin at one from 2000, but either way you should know Telephone is selling TFM like crazy and she's staying at 100k a week with both versions.
