I don't think the singles matter. This album doesn't really have any mass appeal singles. And, to whoever said Rude Boy sounds dated, I agree. It could have been a smash a couple years back but whoever produced it needs to realise it's almost 2010, not 2007.

No it's not. But this album's doing terribly in worldwide compared to the success of GGGB. There's also no potential track to save this project in long-term seriously.

Fire Bomb and Rock Star 101 both have mainstream potential. Russian Roulette is doing great in the UK. If hard or Rockstar 101 was the first single, Rated R would've had higher first week sales. She probably lost a lot of fans here with Russian Roulette because its too dark.

the thing is that rihrih threw away her young fan base and her previous sound with this album. i dont know if one day she got up and said to herself that she doesnt want the radio friendly bubble gum pop tracks any more. she said in the fuse interview that she turned down the catchy tunes. i dont know why.

fire bomb and rockstar do have potential. RR did extremely well worldwide.

Firebomb or even Rockstar 101 ain't any masterpieces compared to her hits from GGGB era. Since a loss of fans because of the darkness of RR at the beginning of the era like you've said, I can't see any better signal of pumping back from Rated R later.

Also what was Def Jam thinking when they released the first single a month before the album was released. Russian Roulette should've been released in September or early October.

Yeah me neither. I don't want her to recycle the catchy tunes. I'm pretty impressed by what she's done in Rated R and prefer enjoying it rather than GGGB despite any commercial success around.

Hope she can get some chances to bounce back due to the critical acclaims.

if i were working for her, i would turn this album around with the quickness.

how? work one country at a time, i would start her tour in january. i would let her tour Brasil and latin america first since she has never toured there, sing the old hits and incorporate the new ones. then hit europe. then come back to the USA with releases for rockstar and fire bomb already taking off. and then tour again some where else. come back for the summer and release rude boy and te amo.

i can make this album work.

I think Def Jam is doing well as their bests for Rihanna. RR is not that type of song can be repressed in the radio so long to get more success. It's very dark to be suitable for all ages. If they don't release the album in this good-timing, it might be forgotten after a poor first single.
