Yes, and when she did all this hip hop stuff in 2008 it wasn't very hip either. She was late to the trend. When she did hip hop-esque beats on Bedtime Stories (I think that's the album right?) that was current. That was Madonna doing what she does best. I just don't find that her doing all this now that hip hop has been popular again lives up to her name. Again I'll reiterate. THIS IS NOT ABOUT AGE. It's about Madonna looking at what has been popular and reflecting that.

At this point in her career she should be able to make ANY type of music, and do ANY type of performance. She has the creative freedom now to do it because she is a legend. And she's always talking "art". And while this is her rightful expression, I seriously doubt if this is the best "art" she can produce. Do you think it is? This will not go down as an iconic era for her. But imagine if she came with really innovative concepts, new styles of dancing, etc... things that she can do because she doesn't have anything to lose. She's not reliant on her last hit. It would be amazing.

Rebel Heart is great, but it's no masterpiece along the lines of COADF or Ray of Light.

It's just so pathetic that people say she's "too old" - the time will come when all our ugly faves will be her age and trying to remain relevant and not only will they be doing it less impressively than Madonna, but also they will talk about her as endlessly paving the way for female artists.
