BBC and Radio 1 are going along with this perfectly? As quoted in the OP, they've made it clear age has nothing to do with Madonna's song not being played or requested for by their audiences.

Madonna had her day. Radio 1 can't be forgiven for not playing Kylie, the UNDISPUTED QUEEN OF POP who's STILL GOING STRONG today!
She is going to be the OLDEST artist ever to chart on the official US POP airplay chart with a SOLO single since Billboard and Nielsen started tracking airplay together in the early 1990s!

Cher was 52 with Believe. Madonna is 56.
After demolishing so many cultural barriers in the past now she is demolishing the ageism barriers!
And mess at someone saying age has nothing to do with it. Of COURSE it does, BBC people have literally said they refuse to play women over 40. Fergie's LA Love went Top 3 in the UK and they refused to play it. And Capital FM, the other huge taste-making station int he UK, is playing Living for Love a lot. It's a modern, catchy track, there is clearly an audience for it there and it fits the deep house sound popular now.
