i know you didn't ask me but i managed to get to 12m before the game crashed
basically: focus on one artist. get a decent writer to write some songs for you (not the most expensive ones - songs with 50-60 commerciality/quality will still sell). when you release the song, don't print too many copies; add more to the stock if it's needed later one. capitalize on the market your artist has a lot of rep in and do tons of promo. do small tours at first to get better rep and to make some money. don't spend too much on advertising.
my first artist had a very decent rep in the uk and asia, so her 3 singles and 1 album sold well there, and i went from -900k to 12m+ thanks to the sales
