What's annoying about Bill is that he said he had no control over the charts, but that's not true. By continuously promoting Gaga with glowing articles, it does push an intention to sway the public's perception and thus sales and numbers. They also got rid of the comments section when things were getting really heated about Gaga, another move to attempt to censor and filter viewpoints so that the glowing articles they published would supersede alternative viewpoints. They were definitely working to game the system in ways they could.
The people Gaga pulls into her web, they all get shafted eventually. Hopefully nobody wants anything to do with her in the business world from here on out and thus we'll hear less and less about her as the months roll on and we start looking towards the future.
Gaga is the epitome of not only egotism, but of corruption of Elitists, with their money manipulating public perception. It's like Orwell's 1984, the way these mainstream publications skew and favor her. It's commercial propaganda.

Good riddance!

I hope the new director can sort out the issues with the charts, especially the genre charts,

All you girls are disgusting. Claiming someone's biased because Dope went top ten for one week. Disgusting, and not coincidentally coming from Katy/Madonna fans. Disgusting.
Calling another poster a 'pedo.' Disgusting.
I want to ban so many of you right now! And the ageism is NOT CUTE. Ryan Tedder is an avid lurker of this board - is he a 'pedo?' Disgusting.

I didn't know Ace was a little monster. Besides the genre charts fiasco, the Dope Top 10 peak was another blemish on Bill's time at Billboard. Idk why he/his team thought it was ok to let a commercial on vevo count as streaming points.
Oh well onto a new era for Billboard

And reweighing and reweighing youtube streams. One week live performance views were not counted for streaming then another week live performance views for Dope were counted. LOL.
And how about those 30 second Harlem Shake videos? LOl

I don't get those braggings about "the wrong formula". Due to the tendency of raise in streaming, it was sensible to add them into the formula. Back in the day, I didn't think it was necessary, later I got it. (I would exclude unofficial/viral videos though).
Please, the fact that your fave didn't get top 10's in years doesn't mean Billboard is bad (bad editors/messy formula/some nasty tricksters/edition itself i a mess/universal conspiracy/world spinning in a wrong way). And, please, blaming chief creative for manipulating chart positions... isn't he shuffling Soundscan data?
And what comes to the publications that might sound "subjective"... everything is about "subjectivity". Nothing new or unacceptable here. Just the way it is.

Is it Billboard that is counting youtube views as sales for RIAA certification?

2013 was a bad year for Billboard. Their articles were full of grammatical errors, misspellings, inaccuracies? what else?

Now fill out a fucking job application.

You didn't need to post something like this, what a meltdown.
I still don't understand why some of you all feel bad for him when he was promoted to a greater position at Guggenheim Digital, a parent company of Billboard. You should stop speculating 'cause clearly any of us knows what's going on. It took me a while to read this entire thread, Bill even had to post to clear something, you probably scared him.

I liked Bill! My only problem with all of billboard is that its website is too slow and sometimes doesn't load properly. Let's just hope this new gal has what it takes to continue the tradition of reporting and music excellence.

RIAA certification is based strictly on legal sales, always has been and always will be.

Thank you for saying this, Ace!
