Today's countdown was nowhere near good, but it could've been better. If it looked like this, it would've been fine - this is what TRL should look like, just based on what TRL has been like in the past.
10.Shop Boyz
09.Gym Class Heroes
08.Lil Mama
07.Fall Out Boy
06.Chris Brown
05.Good Charlotte
04.Hilary Duff
03.My Chemical Romance
02.Rihanna
01.Amy Winehouse
If you consider Fort Minor as hip-hop than it was Where'd You Go but if you dont consider them hip-hop which I dont thn the last hip-hop song to retire was Outkast Roses in 2004.
I haven't done an ideal countdown in a long time, so here we go.
10. Lil' Mama
09. Gym Class Heroes
08. Shop Boyz
07. Amy Winehouse
06. Chris Brown
05. Hilary Duff
04. Rihanna
03. Fall Out Boy
02. My Chemical Romance
01. Good Charlotte
Lil' Mama is cute and all, but her song is awful. I'm afraid it will be the next retired video. Gym Class Heroes are quite annoying with "Clothes Off", rather than semi-funny/completely stupid like Shop Boyz. I still don't "get" Amy Winehouse and her popularity. Chris Brown: whatever. Hilary Duff: whatever. Rihanna's song is not that bad, as weird as it sounds coming from me, and I'm definitely loving her wardrobe in the video.
Fall Out Boy chose a pretty good third single. Too bad the video is the lamest they've ever done. My Chemical Romance made a new peak half-way to retirement. I hope they can spend at least a few days at #1. I was shocked to see Good Charlotte debut, even moreso than White Stripes at #14. 4 years ago, "Dance Floor Anthem" would have debuted the day after its premiere. Now, you'd have to cross your fingers for it not to fall off and disappear.
