Gotye can't have the record because it didn't debut in the top 10. I think Maroon 5 has a chance but they just haven't reached the same amount of weeks as Nicki has yet.

I doubt it will be a problem back when FUn blocked Boyfriend they had 350k+ in sales, a higher airplay than Whistle has now, and far more streaming points. Florida's total points will be only about 40 points more than what Fun had from sales alone.

He's rereleasing "I Feel Better" in the US next month, and with the right promotion I think it has the potential to smash. Unlike STIUTK, IFB is uplifting and radiant... almost reminiscent of Motown in some respects.

I hope it catches on, because Gotye is far too awesome and talented to just end up being written off as a one hit wonder. He deserves better.

I hope so too but his music isn't really what radio looks for. I found his album to be amazing but it still shocks me so much how succesful STIUTK was. That song is so different from mainstream radio top 40 hits and yet sold more than 6 million already. Of course the one song I felt could smash would be "I Feel Better" so hopefully he can go at least top 20 in airplay with that song.

I would hope. Taylor deserves her first #1. Justin deserved it too but streaming really screwed him. Flo Rida is (again) gonna have an increase across ALL formats and he'll have ANOTHER 200k week. I really hope her airplay is great since we all already know her sales are gonna kill Flo Rida. It really will come between airplay & streaming this week between the two...

Girl.. "Payphone" is still huge on radio and #13/#14 on iTunes combined. It will last longer than 2 weeks. All those songs you mentioned are not coming that hard in the top ten.
