I cannot believe Kelly Clarkson is not an option here. She is more versatile than any of the above options and can sing circles around most of them. She's been here a decade and is still topping the charts. She might not have sold as many albums, but she's very respected in the industry whether you think so or not. She's had a #1 song on the Country format, Pop format, and soon to be dance format. Who else can say that? She'd be a lot bigger if she wanted to be the biggest star in the world, but she's said many times she doesn't. That's why she doesn't modify herself to fit the industry.. very similar to Adele in that respect. Kelly went down that road to please her management back in 2005 and she had INSANE success.. but she was very unhappy. So now she won't compromise her happiness and I say good on her.
Britney to me is already going down as a legend. Christina, meh. She's a very talented vocalist but has really fallen flat the past few years and she'll never be as big as Britney, regardless of vocal ability. P!nk is very underrated and SHOULD be a legend, but for some reason I don't think she'll get there. Beyonce has very impressive stats and I think she's amazingly talented.
Out of those, Britney made a unique impact as a pop phenomenon (for good and bad), her name will always be remembered.
Beyonce might get the status as actual legend tho, atleast in US, since she's constantly made impression in forms of good sales, big songs, lots of awards, a great voice and some good acting.
Christina had it all at one early point, but she didn't make the "right" choices and handles her career too unprofessional (again, for good and bad).

^Yes, her like 10 second cameo towards the end of that song.. and I don't think that song's success really had much to do with her, no offense. By the time you hear Xtina on that track, you're already sold on the melody. Look at Bionic. COMPLETE tank. I like Christina, I really think she's talented, but she hasn't been able to do much with her solo career in years.

My honest opinion, Britney, and Christina only because they're the original teen idols in the nineties, and since then has made such amazing impact in the music business.
Brit album reviews are pretty decent, sales are there, etc. And none of you know anyone personally to say she has no respect...while we have tons of receipts of artists/actors, etc. showing their love for Britney, respect, etc. You can believe she is "the joke" on this board, but many people love Britney in the industry. Her media turmoil only adds to the whole "legendary" thing, as so many legends had controversial personal lives too. Just not the same level of different types of press to expose every inch of the details.
Beyoncé and Christina are terrible songwriters, by the way, proving it false that you must be talented at something like that to be considered. Most of the bigger names didn't even pen their own ****. And Christina uses her voice so wrong, you wouldn't think she's a good singer. But I digress on that.
Beyonce though didn't have a phase of mega success like Britney. Almost all legends like Mariah, Celine, Whitney, MJ, Madonna etc had phases where they were untouchable.
