P!nk takes number one is an otherwise strange chart week. "Try" snags number one! "Die Young" falls to number three as "C'Mon" slips to number eleven, but Ke$ha makes two top ten entries with "Gold Trans Am" and "Crazy Kids" at numbers eight and nine respectively. Thus, these two album tracks' unique top ten spots kick out "I Cry" and of course Ke$ha herself with "C'Mon." Other strange movement arise due to the overload of year-end and Christmas plays this week. "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" zooms back up from 20 to 13! "Skyfall" jumps 22 to 17! The craziest move is newcomer, "I'm Legit" stumbling 15 to 25 and "Moonshine" falling out of the chart completely. In its place is a new debut from Olly Murs and Flo Rida with the excellent tune, "Troublemaker." I also just recalibrated the certifications after bringing them back mid-week. (Those of you who notice "Your Body" was 2x Platinum last week is now Platinum because of the recalibration.)

It seems that my own chart experiences a January Meltdown! As that time of year nears upon us on the radio charts, it has hit on my chart as well. Some songs see huge increases due to year-end play (see "Some Nights") while some benefit greatly from Christmas play being reduced to 0 (see "Wanted" or "Don't Rush"'s returns). During this hectic week, the number one has changed yet again! P!nk's "Try" took number one from Ke$ha's "Die Young" last week, but this week, Taylor Swift's "I Knew You Were Trouble." crashes its way into the number one slot. All three songs see increases this week. Ke$ha also continues to own the top ten with three entries. "Die Young" comes in at number four, while "C'Mon" re-enters the top ten at number eight and "Gold Trans Am" slips to number nine. "Crazy Kids" falls out of the top ten to number eleven. Poor "Don't You Worry Child" continues to get caught up in the Ke$ha domination and comes it at number ten for a third week. All four songs earn their gold certification this week, except for "C'Mon," which earned it last week. Below the Ke$ha confusion, Olly Murs and Flo Rida's "Troublemaker" skyrockets from number 26 to number twelve in its second week and earn the Biggest Increase honors. Carrie Underwood's "Two Black Cadillacs" also sees huge chart jump as she moves from number 21 to number 14 in its third week on the chart. It also earns platinum status this week. "Don't Rush," "Wanted," and "Castle of Glass" also move up to new peaks. "Some Nights" jumps nine spots from 27 to 18 thanks to year-end play. There are two debuts and one re-entry this week. After falling off last week, Bruno Mars' "Moonshine" re-enters at number 28. Bruno also sees a debut in the form of "Natalie" at number 30 while Neon Trees and Kaskade debut at number 25 with "Lessons In Love (All Day, All Night)." Falling off are "Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye," "Red," and "Push and Shove." ("50 Ways to Say Goodbye" escaped falling off yet again due to year-end play.)

Lots of fun movements in this week's chart. Ke$ha becomes the first artist ever to score two top five hits at the same time as "C'Mon" rockets its way to number four thanks to the video release. "Die Young" moves down from number four to number five. Ke$ha's two albums tracks, "Gold Trans Am" and "Crazy Kids" continue their runs below the top ten. After three weeks at number ten, "Don't You Worry Child" finally moves up to number six, while we get a new top ten entry from Olly Murs and Flo Rida's "Troublemaker," coming in at number eight. The biggest increase, both position and point wise, comes to us from Neon Trees and Kaskade with their hit "Lessons In Love (All Day, All Night)," which jumps from number 25 to number 14. Also reaching new peaks this week are "Two Black Cadillacs," "Castle of Glass," and "Wanted." "I'm Legit" spikes back up into the top 20 at number 19. It has the potential to repeak next week. The chart sees two new debuts this week in the form of one single and one album track. Kacey Musgraves's country hit, "Merry Go 'Round," debuts at number 23 while Rihanna's "Love Without Tragedy / Mother Mary" debuts right below it at number 24. Both have the same number of points this week, but "Merry Go 'Round" most likely had a bigger increase this week, and thus debuts above "Love Without Tragedy / Mother Mary." Rihanna has the potential to debut with officially announced second singles, "Pour It Up" ad "Stay" later on, possibly meaning eight songs on the chart could be by Ke$ha or Rihanna. How crazy would that be? The debuts replace Adele's "Skyfall" and Train's "50 Ways to Say Goodbye."

This is a very awkward chart this week. The entire top 8 remains stagnant (almost like Billboard took over that portion), but everything below it is completely screwy and fun to look at. "Don't Rush" randomly skyrockets from its time meandering in the mid teens to number nine! "Crazy Kids" rises above "Gold Trans Am" and re-enters the top ten. "I'm Legit" re-peaks at number 15. Last week's debut, "Merry Go 'Round" jumps from 23 to 17. Ellie Goulding has deja vu and debuts at 19 with "Figure 8." "Lights" debuted at number 19 as well and went on to be #1 for four weeks and #6 for the entire year of 2012. "My Oh My" jumps back inside the top 20 after crashing to 25 last week. "Radioactive" is climbing again in part due to its new found success on alternative radio. "Castle of Glass" tumbles even though it doesn't really lose many points at all. "Natalie" finds a new peak of 29 and "Just a Fool," the duet with Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton, makes its debut at 28. Even through all of this weird movement, "Some Nights" and "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" remain on the chart extending their long lives. "Some Nights" is now only seven weeks away from breaking the longest stay record, currently held by "Give Your Heart a Break" at 43 weeks. 6 more weeks would tie it. Will they do it? "Moonshine" and "Looking Hot" get the boot.
