All of the nominees for Best Male Video since 2007 have been hip-hop or R&B artists, so I don't expect this year to be any different. Plus, there aren't that many solo male artists from any other genres that MTV promotes to its audience... Brandon Flowers??? Jack Johnson?? Dan Black?? Nope, none of them have a shot at a nomination. Plus, MTV didn't even acknowledge Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours" with a nod even though it was one of the biggest hits of 2008 (although I guess the nominees that year were fan-voted).
Also, I think Bieber might be eligible for some video this year, so MTV might give him a nod in Male Video or Pop to avoid the wrath of his Beliebers...
