Lol. Anything RS says is legit, sorry dude. You can think they're biased till the end of time but at the end of the day they are maybe the most respected music publication. You dont have to be a gaga fan to admit that this is a HUGE deal for her

If they are going by what is hot right now, I think you have to give it to Gaga without a doubt. I'm a little wary of having TayTay at #2 and I think Katy needs to be higher ater the success of the "Teenage Dream" era and it isn't even over yet. The amount of records Katy sold with this album is out of this world.

It's not like the Queen of England is going to make it official and there's going to be a royal ceremony to crown the new "Queen of Pop."

But as a legitimate publication, one isn't supposed to favor any artist over another.

Also I'm not saying, she's not huge right now, I'm just saying "Queen" is reaching even for the time frame for which the list was compiled.

Well, if you take Gaga out of the picture, I have a feeling Taylor's albums outsold everyone else on that list put together over the past three years.

Add on top of that fact that her songs received the most spins in the United States in 2009 and 2010 and the fact that she is the only one off this list who made the biggest radio songwriters list (which is known to be owned by people like Dr. Luke).

Britney stans who are questioning RS's credibility and legit-ness (Yes, I made it a word, HEW MAD?) needs to SIT. I think Rolling Stone is one of the few media outlets we have that can actually evaluate Pop music/artists and provide a legit review, one without showing a dislike and shadiness for the Pop genre like other "old" uppity media critics do all the time.

I doubt it. This is not just based on sales. Tours, YouTube views etc. all are counted in. Plus, if it will also be between 2009-2011, Gaga has sales that compete with Adele's.

It's not just about album sales, it's also about total records moved (albums, singles, ringtones, videos, etc.) You have to have a signifiant presence in the Pop world and culture for that matter. The biggest pop culture event I can think of that Taylor is apart of is the Kanye West incident at the '09 VMA's.
