THANK YOU! People only started dragging it after it wasn't a huge hit But I still love it! Didn't I want you baaadly. Wanted to let you haaaave meEeEe.
I loooove the beat that comes in on the chorus. "And I just. can't. seem. to. give you up you're mine.... *Beat thing I love--BOWM BOWM BOWM BOWM* You made me feel!" (Idk, it's hard to describe.)
I don't think I was active/around when YM was released (or I just didn't notice) but when I finally heard the song it was obvious it's a good quality track. Anyone that doesn't like it is clearly basing it off of its chart performance.

Before hearing the song I had been thinking about how as Mariah fans we are conditioned to place so emphasis on WILL THE MASSES APPROVE?! DOESNT MATTER HOW WE FEEL-ALL ABOUT CHART ACCOMPLISHMENTS! After all, she gets introduced as the biggest selling female artist! And it's all about how many #1s! As a result i think new Mariah music is treated with skeptical eyes cuz she\we talk a big game. But this song is WHY we talk a big game. When Monica came with "Evefything To Me" it was a classic yet current moment that reminded people why she's dope and that album sold almost 200k first week. I'm not saying the songs are sonically similar - and Mariah is on a different level- but it's definitely a STFU AND LISTEN situation.
No shade but I feel like that has been the preview description to every Mariah song for the most recent eras.
You didn't lie.
I'll be perched tho. While I might not be a stan (or even a casual fan), Mariah has released some great music even as of late. Hoping this is as good as I think it will be.
