BURBANK, Calif., Feb. 12 /PRNewswire/- Hollywood Records' artist Jesse
McCartney recently finished recording Departure, his third and most
personal solo record. The first single "Leavin'," is already a runaway hit
at myspace.com and facebook.com, with Top 40 stations in Houston and
Phoenix already spinning the record though the official add date is weeks
away.
For Departure, McCartney sought out many of today's biggest hitmaking
producers. "Leavin'" was produced by Tricky and The-Dream (Rihanna's
"Umbrella"), while other producers rounding out the album include Sean
Garrett (Chris Brown, Usher), J.R. Rotem (Sean Kingston, Rihanna), The
Clutch (Ciara, Mary J. Blige), and Eric Hudson (Kanye West), who Jesse
describes as a young Quincy Jones. The chemistry between Jesse and Sean
Garrett inspired the anthemic "Rock You," which features Sean Garrett's
vocals on the track. Indeed, the sonically new and edgier pop/R&B sound is
the perfect soundtrack to Jesse's growth as a songwriter and young man. The
songs on Departure explore several facets of growing pains and
interpersonal relationships. The UK and the US recently experienced a taste
of McCartney's poignant songwriting with "Bleeding Love," a song he
co-wrote with One Republic's Ryan Tedder for Brit Award nominee and
X-Factor winner Leona Lewis. "Bleeding Love" became the top selling single
in the UK in 2007.
Since releasing his debut solo album, Beautiful Soul in 2004, McCartney
quickly went multi-platinum, racking up #1 chart positions all over the
world, from Australia to Italy to Japan. McCartney garnered countless award
nominations including an American Music Award for Best New Artist, an MTV
Award for Best Pop Video, as well as several Kid's Choice and Teen Choice
wins. As an actor, Jesse garnered two Emmy nominations, starred in the hit
TV show "Summerland", and recently lent his voice to Theodore in the box
office smash "Alvin & The Chipmunks."
With all this success under his belt on the eve of his 21st birthday,
there's no telling what McCartney's next destination will be.
Jesse McCartney is all grown up, and he stopped by Seventeen to give us an exclusive listen to his upcoming album, Departure, which drops May 20!
Jesse credits R&B and soul artists such as Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin as influences, and his album certainly reflects that! Tracks like "Leavin'," his first single, which hits radios next week, and "My Baby" have an R&B vibe to them — think R. Kelly and Justin Timberlake, with a side of Chris Brown. The songs are totally infectious and had Seventeen staffers dancing around the office!
"It's a whole new sound," Jesse said, "but the reaction from fans has been incredible, so I'm really excited."
We want to know if you're feelin' his new album! Go to Jesse's MySpace page to listen to "Leavin,'" and let us know what you think!
Is Jesse's new sound (and look) rockin'? Sound off below!
Jesse is the voice of Jojo. Jim Carrey, Steve carell and Dane Cook also voice characters in the movie!
In theaters March 14th!

The label keeps track of the MP3 and see how often it is being downloaded, traded, ripped, uploaded etc. so they have an idea of how well it will do once on the market. Then they decide how much promotion they're going to do for the single and later album depending on the numbers. This album is going to be heavily promoted I spoke with Jesse's management the other day about this and there's a lot of promotion to come for JMPT so its all in the works at the moment. There will be more than enough promotion to do within the next few months, we just hope everyone is excited and ready to participate b/c its going to be huge, that's when JMPT will be in full swing.

Hey baby girl I've been watching you all day, all day, all day, all day
Man, that thing you got behind you is amazin, amazin, amazin, amazin
You make me want to take you out and let it rain, let it rain, let it rain, let it rain
I know you got a man but this is what you should say
Why don't you tell him that I'm leaving
Never looking back again
You've found somebody who does it better than he can
No more making you cry
No more gray skies
Girl we flyin' on the G5, G5
And we're leaving never looking back again
So call your shorty and tell him you found a new man
The one that's so, so fly
The one to keep you high
Yeah we'll be singing all night
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh man she's gonna be sayin'
Oh oh oh ohh oh oh ohh oh oh ohhh
Now if I talk it girl you know I'll gonna walk it out, walk it out, walk it out, walk it out
Man I'll put my money, money where my mouth is, mouth is, mouth is, mouth is
You're the baddest little thing I ever seen, ever seen, ever seen, ever seen
So I'm gonna ask you one time if you've got a man
Why don't you tell him that I'm leaving
Never looking back again
You've found somebody who does it better than he can
No more making you cry
No more gray skies
Girl we flyin' on the G5, G5
And we're leaving never looking back again
So call your shorty and tell him you found a new man
The one that's so, so fly
The one to keep you high
Yeah we'll be singing all night
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh Man she's gonna be singing
Oh oh oh ohh oh oh ohh oh oh ohhh
Don't stress Don't Stress Don't stress
Just tell him to the left left left
Don't stress Don't Stress Don't stress
Cause we gone and we gone and we gone
No stress No stress No stress
Girl you deserve nothing but the best
No stress No stress No stress
Girl, you need to tell him that I'm leaving
Never looking back again
You've found somebody who does it better than he can
No more making you cry
No more gray skies
Girl we flyin' on the G5, G5
And we're leaving never looking back again

The one that's so, so fly
The one to keep you high
Yeah we'll be singing all night
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh man she's gonna be sayin
Oh oh oh ohh oh oh ohh oh oh ohhh
I've been singing all night, night, night, night
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh man she's gonna be sayin
She gonna be sayin
Oh She gonna be sayin
She gonna be sayin
Oh we gonna be sayin
Girl you gonna be sayin
I'm not really feeling this look now. It's just not the same. I'm not used to it. I want the Beautiful Soul look back. Seriously...though. Why did Jesse cut it this short? I still love him and all. This is gonna take a while for me to get used to. It's just not that hot anymore.
But look at the picture. It's clearly a CD not a phone
The way Jesse is eying it down, it HAS to be his album. And plus Seventeen magazine CONFIRMED they have heard the album already. So I really think that is it. It has to be it. OMFG.
My heart started beating faster when I saw that picture. I"m so pumped up right now (with a frickin' headache).
NNOOOOO lol Jesse is holding a cellphone, The radio is holding a album! (I know you didn't ask about Jesse holding anything... I had to read again) But the guy on the album looks bald! THAT IS NOT JESSE...
Why the long delay? If the CD is already made and people have heard it already, why wait three months when he clearly said a while ago it was coming out on his week of his Birthday?
Why wait another month? I want the album now. They pushed Blackout a week to two ahead because of leaks, maybe Jesse will do the same. *crosses fingers*
NNOOOOO lol Jesse is holding a cellphone, The radio is holding a album! (I know you didn't ask about Jesse holding anything... I had to read again) But the guy on the album looks bald! THAT IS NOT JESSE...
First of all, you can't assume it's a bald person I see hair. Second of all, Jesse did clearly chop all his hair off
Third of all, it makes sense because Jesse IS promoting his album/single. They did mention in the video about the album DEPARTURE hitting the shelves May 20th. Jesse is eying the CD down. I'm not going to jump and say it is HIS album. But I'm going to be confident that it is HIS album.
You know what I mean? In other words, I wouldn't be suprised when the album cover does leak, it's that. If I'm wrong, so be it. But why would they be eyeing down that CD when clearly Jesse is there promoting his album and single. It wouldn't make sense to have another CD there. You know?
And I really do think that picture kind of does look like Jesse a bit in the album "from what I can see" It's at a bad angle really.
I have no idea why it is pushed back so long... I know it should be out in April, But Hollywood Records want everything perfect for this album cause RWYWM failed miserably... They are probably going to do alot of radio and TV stuff to make this album get huge. I bet it will worth the wait...
It's either his single cover or album cover. But most likely it's the single cover. And did you guys see the video? They said they were playing Leavin' non-stop all yesterday in Arizona
Expect good sales in that state
And are you guys feeling the look? He's not hot. He's just cute now. I guess we'll have to wait and see, cause maybe these pictures that are leaking are just bad photos. Most pictures get photoshopped right? These are just taken at the wrong time when he's not ready. Meh. I hope after this era he goes back to long hair again
