I'm not sure how kworb's estimations method works but probably his algorithm assumes that total Top100 sales number is constant for every update and the sum of all updates in tracking week equals Top100 SoundScan data.
Well, if it's true that is a reason. We know that daily sales during tracking week has peak on Friday and Saturday and on Sunday and Monday is the lowest. So Bowie's songs peaked at the beginning of the week when daily sales are lowest in the tracking-week - that's why his songs' sales numbers was overestimated I think.
