Our next two songs (they're both from the 2000s, Ace, put a smile upon that face!) are also tied, but they both have six 10s. So I decided based on the 9s and 9,5s. One has 6, and the other has 7.

#57 - GIVE IT 2 ME
Average: 7.4722 - Highest: 10 (x6), Lowest: 3 (x2)
Writers: Madonna, Pharell Williams
Producers: Madonna, The Neptunes
The song was written as a self-empowering anthem - if you read the lyrics, you see they're very Madonna... there's some sense of fear of wasting time in this song, just like in 4 Minutes and basically the majority of Hard Candy.
Needless to say it was a flop in the US. In Europe it did moderately well, I guess. It reached #1 in Netherlands, Spain and Hungary.
She used it as the closing act on the Sticky & Sweet Tour, in a long ass performance where by the end she repeats the chorus until your ears start bleeding.
The video was shot when she was doing a photoshoot for Elle. Very basic.
I love this song, it's so much fun to dance to, and the melody is killer. I gave it a 9, true story.

#56 - AMERICAN PIE
Average: 7.4722 - Highest: 10 (x6), Lowest: 1 (x1)
Writers: Don McLean
Producers: Madonna, William Orbit
Madonna did this basically for the soundtrack of The Next Best Thing, after Rupert Everett, her co-star, convinced her to. I don't even think she really wanted to do it.
It's much shorter than the original version, adding dance elements to it. Don McLean himself praised the song, saying it was "a gift from a goddess".
It wasn't released on the US (where it reached #29, though), but it was pretty successful in Europe - it even reached #1 in the UK.
The video basically consists of her dancing in front of the American flag, with Rupert Everett in some scenes. Many (American, I guess) people are featured, including a homosexual couple.
I'm pretty sure she never sang it live. And I don't think she wants to
However, I love the version and gave it a 9.5...

#55 - THIS USED TO BE MY PLAYGROUND
Average: 7.4861 - Highest: 10 (x5), Lowest: 1 (x1)
Writers: Madonna, Shep Pettibone
Producers: Madonna, Shep Pettibone
This was a ballad made for A League of Their Own, which I still didn't watch. It's basically a song about missing the "good old times".
It was pretty successful, reaching #1 in the US for a week. It also did well in Europe.
The video consists of a guy seeing some photos of Madonna, and these photos magically move (what kinda sorcery!) - some of them feature scenes from A League of Their Own.
It's a nice ballad and I gave it an 8.

I think that upsets me more than the fact that it's out. One of Madonna's very few believable performances lies in that film.

Yeah, I've seen people talk about it well before.
The only film with her that I've seen is Swept Away. It sucks and made me not want to watch the others, but I think I'll try Desperately Seeking Susan, this one and I'm Breathless later.

ATRL taste.
"Hanky Panky", "Crazy For You" and "Keep It Together" are TOO low. I mean, come on.
Great graphics, Impressive. Good job.

When you think of a polarising Madonna song, you basically think this one.
I particularly like it, it's (I don't know why) one of my most played Madonna songs on Last.FM.
But there are some off-putting elements about it (like rhyming "dream" with "dream"...), so I gave it a 7.5. But I do enjoy the rapping part.
The video though *****. And she looks gorgeous with dark hair.

There goes another #1.
It's a big surprise for me this ranking so low, there are many people that adore it...
It's a really good ballad, I gave it an 8.
