Because it doesn't sound like a lead single or even a 2nd or 3rd. Fans are not deaf and most hits require support of the GP, who are also not deaf. No current artists can have hits without the song sounding like a hit.

Its funny how Bieber fans give him so much credit when its blatantly obvious his whole new sound is the genius work of very current producers. His vocals are always the basic part in the mix tbh. He's not a vocalist who can bring a song to life.
But Love Yourself is an acoustic song and smashed, so I guess we can say your point is invalid.
it's an Ed Sheeran song. he has solidified himself as a hit with his sound.
But since Justin is the one singing Love Yourself and the GP went all the way to buy or stream the song, it's obvious that they like (or at least tolerate) his voice... How many artists *coughs Shawn Mendes* have tried that sound and didn't succeed? So yeah, giving all credit to the producers is infuriating and getting too old now. It's not like Purpose is full of upbeat songs like WDYM? and Sorry, he does showcase his voice in many songs.
