Never once in my life did I get beat with ANYTHING nor did I ever misbehave, and people on this website claim to have gotten beaten with whips/belts etc. I'm very thankful I don't live in the ghetto cause

I feel like white people are more sensitive to 'physical abuse' and more liberal with their definition of it in general.
To them it's like a slap on the wrist qualifies. Growing up I dealt with actual physical abuse, that I actually had to leave who I lived with because it was that bad. That type of discipline doesn't work for everybody.

I've gotten beat with a belt, but I knew that I did something bad, so it's not like I was just getting whipped for the sake of getting beat
It's not as big of a deal as "outsiders" try to make it out to be. Yes, some people may straddle the line of discipline and abuse, but most of the time kids already know the deal, and know if they do something bad, the belt will come out.

In my oppinion what the man was doing wasnt abuse if it was coming from a good place, but this man took that to damn far, plus when a man does it, it just looks thats much worse and men are generaly stronger than females so it could be a bit much.

This. I was scared of my parents because I respected them so much. Create a culture of respect in the environment. And a belt isn't necessary. Have high expectations and let all hell rip loose when it isn't met. That worked for me, but I was academic. My bro is not at all and he's uncontrollable.
