It's not like their debut sales were that far off. Talk That Talk debuted with 196k sales and Stronger debuted with 163k. Rihanna was riding the biggest hit of her career with WFL versus Kelly's moderate hit in Mr. Know It All. If Kelly were releasing her album going off Stronger, she probably would have sold over 200k, easily over Rih.
But I'm kidding about the GH blocking Rih. Greatest Hits aren't known to open with huge numbers.
If it were a brand new album, we could be in business then. Kelly's profile is much higher right now than it was when she released Stronger. I think she can pull in some really good numbers for her next real album if they don't wait too long and do it properly.
That's why I'm really excited for this GH if we get two really good singles. It's an awesome way to keep Kelly's name out there before her next album. We could have had a lull after Dark Side or maybe IFY if it just performed mediocre and then a year/year and a half to wait for anything new. In that time, the GP forgets about Kelly. With this, we could get two singles to keep her out there til springtime and then if the album comes out next fall, there's a little break but nothing major.
