I've never really gotten the impression that Madonna was one of Gaga's personal idols growing up tbh.
It'll be interesting to see how Born This Way stands up in five years. There's so much opinion surrounding it, for better or worse. That's what makes me like her so much; each era has been unforgettable and really puts everything she can into it just to make it so. Even if you hated the album and the direction she chose to take, there's no denying that Born This Way will be one of the most iconic moments of her discography ten years from now.
I'm not going to shade any other artist, because even some of my other faves can't achieve this, but she hasn't made each album of hers feel disposable and just have it as another album in her list of works. She works more than any in the industry and despite every antic or shock performance or anything else that might dissuade people from liking her, she's gained a lot of respect from her peers and the world at large.
