She also needs urban hit singles to sell the album, and she hasn't had any yet for her new album. They all flopped so far (because they haven't been promoted much.
Notice how the previous album when to #1 when Moment 4 Life was released, but the album didn't sell so much when Super Bass, which was MASSIVE got released.
So yes, obviously it is the hip hop fans buying her albums mainly, but imo she needs urban smashes to sell her album well.
I also think this may be the reason that Rihanna's album hasn't sold so well this time around. WIth Loud she had What's My Name?, but with this album You Da One flopped, and Talk That Talk and Birthday Cake haven't gotten particularlly massive (yet).
