Meghan Trainor
Title
Meghan Trainor releases her highly anticipated debut album "Title" and doesn't disappoint. The lead single All About That Bass is surprisingly one of the weaker songs overall however that doesn't discredit how good it is. Meghan's been able to craft a bunch of songs that all fit well together, there are many potential hits leaving for only one or two filler tracks which as album tracks, still stand out.
Prior to release there were worries she would over do the Doo-Wop sound however she's able to give each song a different touch embracing the 50s Doo-Wop style while giving a modern Pop twist. It's one of the best debut albums from a Pop artist in recent years.
Favorites: Walkashame, No Good For You, 3AM, Dear Future Husband
Verdict: 8.5

Meghan Trainor
Title
- 97/100 -

Meghan Trainor came in like a wrecking ball in July of last year and she's unstoppable ever since. She introduced herself to the world with All About That Bass, the catchy body-positive anthem that everybody loves, and which made me fall in love with her. She then released an EP of 4 songs which contained Bass, the sassy Dear Future Husband, the arguably best song on the album: the title track, and the beautiful empowerment ballad Close Your Eyes.
Every song on the EP was perfect, which was promising for what was to come. Later on, the second single Lips Are Movin was released, and it was just as good as expected.
Finally, one week ago, Title was finally released. The album is catchy, fun, sassy, well-written, different, cohesive, versatile and contains 0 fillers. With her entertaining writing style and her new & fresh doo-woop sound, and starting from the interlude which immediately gets stuck in your head, to ballads like What If I and Like I'm Gonna Lose You, to bangers like Walkashame and Bang Dem Sticks, to catchy tunes like No Good For You, Credit, 3am, Mr. Almost and My Selfish Heart, Title proves that Meghan Trainor is here to stay, and for a long time.

I want American Beauty/American Psycho to be reviewed. I doubt more members will want to review it, too... But let's see.

Meghan Trainor just might be the most polarizing new pop star on the scene. And she has dominated the scene quickly. Everyone seems to have an opinion on the girl, she's almost a kind of Rorschach test, she puts her spunky self out there and people react. We've all heard, or depending on how you look at it, been subjected to her hit "All About That Bass" the song about bringing booty back that dominated the charts in the back half of 2014. It became a viral hit, something that's not too difficult to do with a song nowadays; but she went and achieved the near impossible, scored a follow-up hit with "Lips Are Moving," and a hit album with 'Title.' Detractors say that she's promoting an unhealthy body image or that all her songs sound the same, and the people that love her would point out her quirky, bubbly, and sarcastic behavior as the key to her success.

'Title' positions Meghan as a kind of anti-pop star. One that wouldn't exist without the Ariana Grande's and Taylor Swift's of the world. Where Ariana and Taylor are polished and positioned as unattainable, Meghan and her 'Title' position her as the ultimate outsider to the pop world, an everywoman . Meghan tackles topics that the everyman or woman deals with: body weight, one-night stands, future relationships with the humor and wit of a wisecracking sitcom character. In fact the writing is so on the nose that it feels just a bit manufactured and staged, down to the canned 50s doo-wop sound of the album that leaves it a tad too corny. Maybe that's the point though, Meghan is a smart girl and a clever songwriter and she could be using her platform to comment on the manufactured nature of pop music like say, Lady Gaga before her, and go on to better things and different sounds or she could be a one-trick pony, riding the sound of her break-out and milking it. Either way, 'Title' is an intriguing listen, consistent without being a bore, and just pretty fun. If you're into "All About That Bass" there's no dealbreakers here and Meghan has charisma (or faked quirk) to spare. As with pop music, image plays a key role, in fact, you can check the images here in this review and decide whether they're charming or annoying and figure out how you feel about the album. To my ears 'Title' plays as a very solid pop album, and it's a good start to 2015. Good job Meghan..

We should review Björk's 'Vulnicura', right? It's doing well on iTunes and the ATRL discussion of the album has like 50 pages. And I would try to review Meghan Trainor... but, ugh.
Honestly, TRF.

I'm extending Title to tomorrow night because I can't update tonight. I need to study for two finals tomorrow. Extra day to review it! This also means that FOB and Kelly will start tomorrow afternoon/night.
