CMT Crossroads

American singer-songwriter might be considered a pop artist now that's strayed far from her roots but Taylor Swift still has a lot to do with country music. It was't until the catch pop hooks of songs like 'Mine', 'You Belong With Me', and 'Love Story' that country acts began following her lead, adding pop influences into their singles and some cases even dared to attempt to try to get them to cross over to other formats. But perhaps no artist has done it as successfully as Taylor Swift. Even as a pop driven artist now, Swift can still get her songs charting inside the top ten on the Hot Country Airplay chart on Billboard. Taylor Swift hasn't sang country in awhile, even on her previous tours but recently changed that as she was announced for a special CMT Crossroads session in which she would choose her partner. It was today that she filmed the mini-concert and it was confirmed that recent collaborator Zendaya was her partner for the twelve song setlist. Taylor's selection worked as the two have very different voices, Taylor a more sharp and country-pop tone and Zendaya a more silky and smooth R&B voice. Each girl sang four originals and a cover of their choice. Both of them had to sing on every song and surprisingly they both were able to pull of each other's chosen songs, Zendaya's voice working well on the country songs Taylor chose and Taylor's on the more urban songs she chose for them to sing. The set opened up with Taylor's first country hit 'Our Song' and the two closed the show with their collaboration 'Gunshots'.
Our Song:
The first song the two girls sing was Taylor's first country number one single 'Our Song'. As soon as the introduction ended for the the specical, Taylor started playing the strings to the song, the audience beginning to clap with Zendaya who initiated it. Taylor sang the first verse sounding at home on the song, her voice sounding much different in contrast to the original recorded back in 2006 when Taylor was only sixteen years old. Zendaya chimed in for the second verse, sounding a bit odd at first before she adjusted and put a bit of a country tone on to her voice, pulling it off with ease. They sang the rest of the song together, trading lines during the bridge before the two girls laughed at the end, taking a sip of water before they moved onto the next song.
My Baby:
The girls then would sing one of Zendaya's songs. It happened to be that Zendaya chose the closing song on her eponymous album 'ZENDAYA'. The two sang 'My Baby' perfectly, Swift pulling off the R&B sound better than people thought she would. Swift danced around but not too much to embarrass herself. The girls would exchange glances as they moved around the stage singing. The ending of the performance was great as the two harmonized in falsetto.
You Belong With Me:
"I think we should do this one next. What do you think Zendaya?" Swift asked as she strummed a few random chords, Zendaya obviously knew what the crowd was talking about as she smirked at the singer. "They definitely know it. I think we should do it." Zendaya looked out to the audience and smirked. "I think so too. Ready? Here we go…." Taylor played another random chord before she played the chords to crossover hit 'You Belong With Me'. "You're on the phone with your girlfriend she's upset…" Zendaya began singing as Taylor focused on the guitar playing, playing the chords before she chimed in with "I'm in my room it's a typical tuesday night I'm listening to the kind of music she doesn't like. And she'll never get your story like I do." Taylor sang the pre-chorus alone before both girls sang the chorus of the song together.
Replay:
"I think it's time to get them a few more songs. So this next one is a song that some of you might know. So sing a long if you can." The intro to 'Replay' hit as Zendaya sang the first few lines of the verse before Taylor started to, sounding great on the Zendaya's biggest solo hit. The song worked for both of them vocally as it called for a bit of power when it came to vocals.
Begin Again:
"This is one of Zendaya's favorite songs of mine. It happens to be one of my favorites too. I think I'm going through what I went through when writing the song now. There's something really magical about falling in love again after a really bad breakup. Wouldn't you agreee, Zendaya?" Taylor asked her friend who listened as Swift spoke. "I do." She agreed before Taylor smiled and began talking. "So around the time I wrote this song, I'd just went through a very intense relationship. For the longest time I felt there was no point in trying to fall in love again. But I found out you don't try to fall in love… it just happens. You have to wait for love. And on a Wednesday in a cafe I watched it Begin Again." Swift and Zendaya then proceeded to perform the ballad, both of them sounding absolutely gorgeous on it.
Boheme:
"I think I'm going to do something special for you guys, Gunshots is of course off my new album but I want to play you guys a song from it. One you've never heard." Zendaya smiled as she took a seat again to perform the song. "I really love this song. It's my favorite with Gunshots" Taylor informed her friend who thanked her. The two girls then would perform 'Boheme' a R&B song that would appear on Zendaya's upcoming album.
2 On (Tinashe cover):
"This next song I have no idea how I'm gonna pull of but I'll try. Zendaya chose it not me." Taylor laughed as Zendaya shook her head. "She did fine in rehearsal. Ignore her. She's annoying at times." The two got up from their chairs, which were taken from the stage quickly as the beat to Tinashe's 2 On hit. Taylor sang the first verse. Swift crooned the first verse sounding almost as if she'd been singing urban her entire life. The two girls then traded off at parts. To no one's surprise Zendaya pulled the song off a little more than Taylor but it was still a great performance, their voices complimenting each others .
On The Run (Beyoncé Cover):
"I find it funny how we both chose R&B songs to cover. This next song is one of my favorites in the past few years. It's by an artist I know and have met many times. She's so sweet. This is a special version of 'On The Run'". The girls then would sing a solo version of 'On The Run'. They sounded the best on this track, both of their voices sounding angelic on it. They harmonized and even scaled in falsetto on the song together.
I Knew You Were Trouble:
"Boys boys boys. How do you feel about them Zendaya?" Zendaya then scratched her head and shrugged. "I hate them but love them at the same time." Swift then moved closer to Zendaya, putting her elbow on her shoulder where she leaned against her. "You know what I think? I think they're trouble." From there the two girls performed Taylor's pop hit from her fourth album RED, 'I Knew You Were Trouble'. Unlike the other songs it was performed to it's full production, Swift and Zendaya sounding absolutely amazing on it. It was by far the best performance of the night for the two girls though that was hard to believe.

Rihanna album promotion party on Good Morning America.

Today, after a long time Rihanna was finally back at Good Morning America. The show has missed her so much that they gave a 30 minute spot. She performed 7 songs, and talked with fans about everything from music to clothes, from clothes to her love life just about everything. It was a very great event and a hgue opportunity for Rihanna to promote her new album “Sex Diary” Read about the performance below:
SETLIST:
1. ***** Yo Up
2. LOW LIFE
3. JUICY CAKES
4. Ain’t Ready For It
5. Meduda
6. Burning Night
7. LOVE (LIKE YOU MEAN IT)
***** YO UP
The set list staretd with Rihanna’s album opener “***** Yo Up” Rihanna performed with a few dancers and a guy (who’s life she was ruining while performing) So basically the performance started with Rih coming on stage and showing a pic of guy, she tore his picture and started singing. Two dancers popped out, and danced with Rih. Then her ex walked in, and Rihanna, but he acted like he doesn’t see Rih, she did everything to him, spilled popcorn and syrup on him, kicked him in ass(gently ofcourse) The performance ended with Rih standing like a HBIC on stage. Rihanna of course censored “p**ck” by changing lyrics a bit
LOW LIFE
From an extravaganza performance Rih went on to a simple performance of Low Life, there were two chairs for her and her guitarist, he played the guitar and Rih was serving vocals, and showing how grateful she is to people that made her dream come true, she even cried, but then one little girl came and hugged her.
JUICY CAKES
Bran was absent again. As we all know there were kids in crowd so Rih did a cute performance of this song without any balloon dicks, or sex, or twerking or other controversy. There were just balloons and a few dancers, dancing with her and singing to juicy cakes, it was overall a cute performance, there were balloons, colorful outfits, and colorful backgrounds.
Ain’t Ready For It
The last minute change. Rihanna was suppose to perform “Drink It (Shots)” but she find out that there were kids so she left that song away this time. She instead sang “Ain’t ready For It” it was another slow performance but this time with piano and violin, it was very stripped back, but sounded very beautiful, and Rihanna was working those vocals, crowd was mesmerized.
Medusa
There were kids (blah blah blah) Rihanna performed MEDUSA by sitting in a huge thrown, and there were a lot of guys around her, Rihanna stood up sat on guys shoulders, and they carried her to the crowd, she was hugging people in crowd, she even let people sing medusa with her. Even tho some did decent, other didn’t Rihanna still loved singing with them, it was a very sweet part of all the set, Rih literally showed how nice and friendly she is.
Burning Night
Over 10 instruments were used while singing this ballad. Rihanna did something X-Tina would do to showcase her vocals, but she did it gently and softly, she sang very well, and her voice had no cracks, she just sounded beautifully, like an angel, angelic chanthouse, overall it was a very intrumentful performance.
The show ended with Rih singing “F**k Me (Like You Mean it) but she changed f**k me to love me, she sang it with lots of energy and dancing, she did moonwalk, a bit twerked, shaked her hips, even did a belly dance, and some acrobatics, talented chanthouse, when will others, she then asked a few fans to come on stage, and she she just hugged them and sanged te song together like a group, it was sweet.

Kelly Clarkson probably wishes the film “From Justin To Kelly” would just go away.
