Nor were the battles of islamic conquest which started in 634 the only wars fought in the name of Islam, so what's your point?
Anyway, in contrast to Islamic Holy war which began in the 7th century and whose main goal was to conquer and subjugate non-islamic territories in accordance with surah 9:29 which calls for subjugation of jews and christians, the goal of the crusades was "to liberate" ( ) the holy land which had been conquered by Muhammad's closest companions some 6 years after his death.
So there's a BIG difference between christian "holy wars" and muslim "holy wars"
I guess it depends on what you consider to be a "holy war". The Christian Church used the term "just wars" for most of their religious conflicts, while Muslims used the term "holy war" for everything. Comparing Crusades to Islamic conquests in general isn't really fair.

I don't want to offend anyone and maybe I'm not putting to much thought into this, but I can't see how people complaining about the #PrayForParis tag and replacing it with #PrayForTheWorld because there are more places than Paris in need of attention because of their war situation is any different from people complaining about the #BlackLivesMatter and replacing it with #AllLivesMatter. The tag is not "#PrayForParisAndForParisOnly", we all know there are places in the world in a worse situation than Paris right now, but sympathizing with the french population and showing them condolences after the terrorist attacks doesn't mean a person just cares for french people only.
I'm seeing a lot of tweets calling people hypocrites for tweeting "#PrayForParis" (I don't actually believe a tweet with this hashtag is going to change anything, but oh well) because they didn't tweet PrayForGaza, PrayForFerguson and similars. Like, it's not just the moment for that. The only thing that makes Paris different to any other place that suffered a similar attack in recent times is that Paris is closer to the west world and a territory in peace. We know that there are countries in which everyday war is a thing, but showing your feelings toward what happened in a neighbour country it's not the same as caring only about them.
Thanks for your suggestion Emirati Atrler . If I wanted to learn more about Muhammad I'd rather read the earliest sources available, e.g his earliest biography "Sirat Rasulallah" written by Ibn Ishaq or the hadeeth collections like Sahih Muslim, Sahih Bukhari, Sunan Abu Dawood etc
In fact I recommend 'The Life of Muhammad' written by Ibn Ishaq in the 8th century to anybody who wants to read an unbiased biography of Muhammad since modern biographies and documentaries tend to leave out some not so nice facts about him.
ok I'll check this one out, even though, if I want to know more about the Quran I can read more about its compilation, meaning and the historical context of certain verses in the hadeeth or the various Quran commentaries , especially Tafsir Ibn Kathir.
