her album sales cut in half as did Nsync's and Christina's and Backstreet boys.
She still managed a top 10 WW with multiple certifications.
Most of her eras can claim that at least.

So slave wasn't exactly radio friendly from a teen pop girl but it's still a WW hit a pop hit in the US and iconic despite what it was up against.
Slave was not a flop in the US and was a top 10 i believe it hit 5 or 6 WW without US sales. She does have some songs that failed to even go top 20 on pop or top 30...I could see that being called not a hit but Slave doesn't fit that bill. I think it has to do with you not being from US but then again Luccyyyyyy isn't either and he's logical so I don't know how to diagnose your deficiencies in classifying Britney appropriately.
