I've tried so hard to think about it but I'm at a total loss. I actually feel like this round has shown me the album's boundaries, because UV is not nearly as diverse as BTD. There was always a way to work around that but in this round it's crucial and I just can't come up with something, I'm drawing a complete blank, sorry. I don't have the slightest idea so I couldn't even bullsh*t it with an amazing essay. Maybe it's because I haven't been as much into Lana/UV lately so I have disconnected with the album a bit but still, I tried listening to it again to find an answer but I couldn't.
I've had a lot of stress in the last time due to my accident and subsequent injury and still leading my normal life and going to work every day without any support, so maybe I'm just too exhausted to think properly. But I just have no inspiration for this challenge at all, as sad as it is, I just can't find anything in me.

Choose The Album, Then A Song 6: VOTE! [R12]
Welcome everyone to the sixth season of ATRL original game
Choose The Album, Then A Song!
This was a long wait and I am sorry for that but when we reach this part of the game, that is so close to the final, I tend to extend the deadline so I don't need to eliminated anyone, because if they're here, they were good!
Well, a contestant asked me to extend the deadline but ended up quiting. Everyone knows how much I hate when someone quits, especially this far in the competition, so I will completely ignore that and pretend the album/member was just eliminated...
Anyway! Back to remaining albums that got this far... Not everyone has that to their credit, you do! This is probably one of the hardest challenges and you better nail it because three are making it into the final, one is not. Here we go!
THE RULES
1. DURING THE VOTING PERIOD, ALL THE CONTESTANTS MUST VOTE (OTHERWISE YOU'RE PENALIZED);
2. NO CONTESTANT CAN ASK FANS/FRIENDS TO SAVE THEIR ALBUM;
3. ALL CONTESTANTS MUST DELIVER THEIR ENTRY IN TIME, OTHERWISE THEY'RE ELIMINATED;
4. BY USING ONE SONG, IT WILL GET BANNED FOR THREE ROUNDS
5. YOU CAN ONLY USE THE SAME SONG TWICE.
THE JUDGING PANEL
1. Pedro
2. Inner Insanity
3. rl231

THE ENTRIES: ROUND TWELFHT
1. holyground - Paramore - Paramore: Last Hope || (One of Those) Crazy Girls

Though this album is rooted in rock, these two songs are quite the polar opposite of each other.
Firstly, these two songs are different in sound. Last Hope is a ballad while Crazy Girls is a fun, uptempo pop rock song. One would probably make you feel like crying, the other will make you dance like a crazy chick.
Secondly, the content and tone cannot be anymore different. Last Hope talks about the tough times we face in life and despite the fact that things may not seem to get better, we need to keep the faith that it will. Crazy Girls has an optimistic tone too, but more of way too optimistic that you start hiding in your ex-lover's home and smelling his stuff, basically the song is straight up insane. One is so serious about life, the other is about being a delusional mess.
Even though these two sound different, talk about different things and have different tones, they are essential to the album. Last Hope is such an important song in their career, with such a wonderful message and a it's impeccably executed. Though Crazy Girls almost sounds satirical, but such light-hearted playfulness is necessary lighten up the band drama discussions in the album. Without Last Hope, the album is a little heartless. Without Crazy Girls, the album is no fun.
Overall, even though Crazy Girls is like the antithesis of Last Hope, they both play part in creating the diversity in the album, and are chess pieces in the search for optimism and escape, which the album presents.

2. Element - Bastille - All This Bad Blood: Icarus || Laughter Lines

These two songs feature the band examining two very different stages of life -- youth and old age.
In "Icarus," the band uses a Greek myth as a metaphor for the bad choices made in youth. We make mistakes, and learn life lessons. "Icarus" tells the story of a young person "who is digging their own grave" due to poor life decisions. Even though life has "just begun", this person is "flying too close to the sun" -- and will end up facing the consequences. Bastille looks into the lessons of their recent past to advise this young person. Musically, this song is one of Bastille's most lively and energetic. There is a sense of urgency and danger throughout: flames, failure, and fear are central to this story.
"Laughter Lines" tells of a couple who are looking into the future, hoping that they will be together decades from now. They are looking forward to their elder years, where they will happily live the end of their lives together. This visualization of the future is one of love, laughter, and life fulfilled. The melody and instrumental of this song reflects that theme -- the song has a fluid motion. There is a calm, peace, and pensiveness to "Laughter Lines" that feels representative of the penultimate grey years.
These songs show two different sides of Bastille's musical style, but also encapsulate this album perfectly. First, they play with the concept of time, which the band uses frequently throughout the album to explore themes. Second, far too many songs and albums don't have thought, passion, or meaning. In these two songs, as with all of the album, we see Bastille demonstrate thought, passion, and meaning in their words. Both songs are a wonderful taste into the beautiful stories and writings found on All This Bad Blood.

3. dimitrius - Cher Lloyd - Sorry I'm Late: I Wish || Human

"I Wish" and "Human" are in completely different realms of music; the epitome of antonyms. Sound-wise, "I Wish" is your pop anthem with a catchy beat that fits perfectly with club, dance, and radio music. It consistently echoes an upbeat drum that you can groove along to. On the contrary, "Human" is your emotional, vulnerable, and heartfelt masterpiece. The instrumentals for this track are low and haunting, with accents on climatic moments to match her raw emotion.
Lyrically, these two songs could not be more different. "I Wish" is the materialistic song where Cher sings about not being good enough for a guy. She wishes she was 'better' and instead had "a butt and a rack" in order to catch his full attention. She downplays herself in this song because she feels that she isn't the total package. Furthermore, T.I.'s verse on the track reiterates this as he raps, "I'll replace you in a second". Then, we have "Human" which talks all about self-worth and being true to who you are. This song is so genuine and Cher sings about not being perfect every time because it's not humane. She's trying to get across the message of being true to who you are as a person, not anything you wish you were.
Asides from the differentiating beats, lyrics, message, and overall composition; these two songs earn their keep on 'Sorry I'm Late'. The album is one of evolution and progression into maturity. Previously, Cher wouldn't have sung about letting go of her perfect image nor her personal desires. With the pop and ballad representations of versatility, both songs show growth in her vocals, persona, and genre. They show that she's blossomed into a mature (young) adult, and like the rest of the album, depicts her new found experience.

4. Penk - Robyn - Body Talk: Cry When You Get Older || U Should Know Better (feat. Snoop Dogg)

I've mentioned many times how versatile of an album I think Body Talk is, and two songs that have very little in common with each other are "U Should Know Better" and "Cry When You Get Older". Although both are among by favorites on the album, they both deal with largely different topics, with one showing off the attitude side of Robyn, and the other showing off the more poignant side of her. The Snoop Dogg featured "U Should Know Better" is an electro hip-hop song that has the 2 boasting and trading off verses saying how the "Russians", "French", "FBI", and even "the whole industry" know not to mess with them. On the other hand, "Cry When You Get Older" is one of the most straightforward songs on the album, and it's incredibly poppy, bouncy rhythm matches perfectly with the melancholy advice-filled lyrics. The message of the song is to live your life doing what you want when you're young so you don't have to regret it later, whether that be about love, family, etc., it is a universal anthem for believing in yourself.
Although the two are vastly different, they both fit in the album for their own reasons. Even though they are lyrically nothing alike, they both contain some of Robyn's best lyrics, whether it be the clever rhymes in USNB or the inspirational lines in CWYGO. It shows how versatile of a writer Robyn is, and how many facets of human emotion she knows from experience. Sound is important too, with the hard hitting electro beat of USNB and the more bubblegum synth filled sound of CWYGO complimenting each other with their diversity, yet still making sense in the vein of the album. Body Talk aways stays true to itself, even throughout it's immense variety.

Understandable. As for the first point, in fact, 'Ultraviolence' is not a 'Born To Die'. In my previous comments to you, I mentioned that this album is a disappointment next to her previous one... You could've tried though. Highly doubt you'd go home anyway!
As for the second explanation, I just hope you find the strenght you need, really!

Yes, and I mean in a way I actually think it's a good thing because the album is very cohesive, but on the other hand it is a bit of a disadvantage for this game. If I hadn't had the bonus tracks I actually would have struggled much earlier in the game. The Lana haters were pretty persistent recently so I definitely didn't feel too save, it would have been interesting to see though.
Thanks Pedro, that means a lot. Luckily my recovery has been going exceptionally well and things should be back to normal in about 2-3 weeks now at the latest. It's a tough experience going through something like this when you're so far away from friends and family, but I've learned a lot from it.

I admire people who can handle that so much. I don't think I could.

I dislike the irony of borntodie quitting (for understandable circumstances) during around a round based on one of her artists she was in fact playing with
This month since the accident is the hardest borntodie,

I hope you're alright Anna. I'd have loved to have seen you continue slaying this game, but I totally understand. Your personal life comes first, always.

I'm sad that you quit, Anna, but it's understandable . You were a great contestant, even if Lana's album had "boundaries," so claps for you

Done with my rates. No 10s this time, but there's a 9.5. I only disliked one entry.

FINISHED! I did something a little different this round where I gave up to 5 points for the essay and up to 5 points for the choice in songs. Nobody did bad this round at all, in terms of both; the lowest score was a 7, and the highest was a 9.
