Lizzie had to be killed. When she started crying to Carol, she wasn't crying because she felt remorse about killing her sister, but because she thought Carol was mad for pointing a gun at her.
Lizzie also said that she was planning on doing the same thing to Judith too.
I wish I wasn't spoiled about this episode before I watched it. Even with knowing what happened... watching it was so powerful. I can only imagine watching it live.
You can tell things were going to go down when Lizzie goes, "I know what I have to do" and she looks at Mika.
I knew that yellow headed little bitch was a Michael Myers the SECOND i saw that damn rat science experiment in the prison. Carol should have burned ha ass! Mika was smart and kind, yet she was a fighter and was likely going to make it to Terminus with Carol and Tyreese.
But NO!! Pre-teen Delphine LaLaurie over here had to have a psychotic break because she couldn't understand that Walkers are truly dead.

One of the best episodes in the entire show. So intense and heartbreaking. Carol's performance was out of this world. She's the best developed character in the show.
