That's what we all thought , I thought that she was going to be unstoppable, but when BTW fell so fast of top 10 I knew something wasn't going right for Gaga, her singles are underperforming (not flopping at all, but it's dissapointing for such a high profile artists as Gaga)

Scratch that..
Guetta & Usher just went up to #9
Coldplay already starting their freefall.. at #10 right now
LMFAO will definitely be in before Midnight comes around, as long as a song behind it doesn't get a big jump.

Judas flopped, you might say TEOG underperformed, but Y&I far surpassed what I thought it could do. I was afraid it could have easily gone the way of CKB.

I wasn't surprised about that. Since the first listen of BTW, I knew that album would be not gonna do as well as people expected.

I thought Gaga would have had 3 #1's as well, considering her first 3 singles were released before the actual album.
It's so funny watching Gaga stans whinging about promotion for the single...try being a Britney fan.
Gaga's promoted Y&I more than Britneys promoted all 3 of her singles and her album.

I'm glad Gaga's singles undeperformed. We'll see if she still plucks a DJ from obscurity and have him produce her next album, or if she's learned her lesson.

Well she needs to, since she takes more risks than Britney. Dr Luke candy doesn't really need promo. A popstar who just 2 years ago was doing Just Dance now releasing something like Y+I does. Look at how bad CKB flopped after strong promo from Rihanna.

4 Gym Class Heroes Stereo Hearts (feat. Adam Levine) 0.639591
5 Cobra Starship You Make Me Feel... (feat. Sabi) 0.623946
6 Rihanna Cheers (Drink to That) 0.607247
It's weekend now, Rihanna's time to snatch wigs as usual.

Actually Lady Gaga promotes all her singles like crazy, not only Y&I.

But I love Born This Way, and it's not so bad that she flopped with her singles or not. It's not really about chart progress, but more of a lasting impact in pop music, which she is currently making. The chart *****s are only for the Rihanna stans

It's her job. Though really it was the video that did more for Y&I than any performance.

I never said Gaga stans don't care for chart progress. I am neither a Gaga stan, nor do I speak for the Gaga stans. I am expressing my opinion on the matter

Promotion, hype, big star names. That all leads to minor and temporary boosts.
Look at the song from BTW. From 4. From Rated R.
Now look at how the hype-less and promo-less LMFAO are (sadly) going to mop the floor with everyone again like they did all Summer long.

All generic pop songs need are videos and radio airplay. I don't even think any other promo helps that much in those cases.

The problem is, to GaGa, selling 1.1 million in her first week was a vindication (a manifesto, if you will) from her fans what she is doing is awesome. Also, it doesn't matter that the second and third single didn't do as well, because we all know that GaGa herself does not pay that much attention to to the charts. For all we know, to her Born This Way (single) was a smash and so was TEOG and You and I. Once again, she will think that she's doing everything awesomely.
It's not that awesome, and I would not want her to take the same route next album (finding DJWhatShisname and making him exec produce the album). But she probably will.

You cannot be serious.
If this woman cared about the charts she would have realized what a precarious situation she was in popularity-wise when Judas was released.
She's a smart businesswoman and all, but I firmly believe she doesn't know **** about the industry. Case in point:
"I'm going to make TEOG number one for Clarence!"
Awesome.
*waits a month for promo, while TEOG has peaked on iTunes and radio*
"K guys, surprise performance time!"

She definitely doesn't.
She likes being successful in what she does but she's definitely oblivious when it comes to charts/bilboard, etc..
"I want to make TEOG #1"
"The Fame went diamond WW"
"BTW sold 5 million copies"
She clearly doesn't care much about chart positions either, nor does her label. None of her singles were discounted nor did they schedule a performance just to do better in the charts.
Some other artists/labels such as Katy and Rihanna care much more about peaks and all of that. Not only because of the label's strategies to get the songs to the top but also because of everything they say on twitter, like "buy my single on itunes now", "Thanks for breaking a record", etc...
