Nicole, don't expect Ke$ha to ditch pop -- she's not an oblivious moron like Lady Gaga; she actually cares about and listens to her fans. She respects and wants to keep her fanbase, so don't be surprised if her first single is still mostly pop with some rock influences or simply a straight-up pop "Clarity"-type single. Ke$ha has repeatedly stated that she loves pop music, and party music -- she was just tired of putting out the same kind of pop music with Dr. Luke.
The US is one of the few countries in the world where airplay is not remunerated. Kii at the only thing she has above her (because she came out just 4 years ago) not being something she gets any money from.
Songwriters get paid for that though and Kesha has writing credits.
