"We Are Young" |
WRITE-UP:
We are almost done with the list and as of this moment, it's time to reveal one by one the biggest hits of 2012. The first song from what I consider to be the Big 3 of 2012 takes the #4 spot. We Are Young by breakout band Fun. makes it way inside the top 5 because of the success it has attained worldwide. At first, I was not really into Fun's music as I am not really an alternative music fan. What makes me to try listening to this song is when it reached the top spot on Billboard Hot 100 and took over for 6 long weeks. By that time, I find this a decent song and that really paved the way in appreciating this song slowly. We Are Young eventually climbed on my countdown slowly where it reached as far as #2. It also logged 15 long weeks in my countdown which is a big reason why it is placing this high. I see that majority of the members here also appreciates this song so I see no reason why I should ignore this. As for Janelle Monae, her one liner part is not necessarily at all. Lead vocalist Nate Ruess could have just done that part all by himself. We Are Young is definitely one of the biggest hits of 2012 where it is destined with the #3 in all the year-end countdown. If this could have snatched a week or two at the top spot, it will definitely be at #3. Like what I stated above, We Are Young is the first of the Big 3 of 2012. You'll definitely see the other two very soon!

03 | MAROON 5 F/ WIZ KHALIFA
"Payphone" |
WRITE-UP:
Maroon 5 outsmarted Fun. in my list as the highest ranking group with their lead single Payphone. If you think Maroon 5 had changed their sound into the wrong direction, I don't even care. From the performance of this song in the charts, I see that they are just even attaining more success. When I initially listened to Payphone, I find it an ok song. It is good but it won't be performing well in the charts. Things changed after a couple of weeks as Payphone eventually started slaying on the charts. I also hear this song a lot and there is no escaping this one. Adam Levine did another amazing job with the vocals especially on the chorus part. That part is just so singable that anyone who is familiar with this song knew the chorus line. Wiz Khalifa adds a little flavor to the song but his part is not necessarily important anyways. I admit that I eventually got tired of this at some point because it is always being played non-stop but I still appreciate its awesomeness. Payphone is one of the biggest hits of 2012. Despite being blocked by two songs at the top spot on Billboard Hot 100, it still manages to land inside the top 10 in the year-end countdown. It is an accomplishment that Maroon 5 attained even bigger success for 2012. This just proves that they are here to stay and that they will smash harder in the future.
