Before the tapes dropped the media was definitely itching for a Trump "comeback" story. Now I'm not sure. They probably still want a comeback, but "GOP implodes" might be just as enticing.
They were very excited about Pence's debate performance. They thought it was the beginning of the comeback. But then the Washington Post said, "Not on my watch!"

By my count, 52 GOP governors, senators and representatives have now stated that they do not support Trump. (That's 16% of total.)
