ATRL Lovatics,
It has come to my attention that many members in the base are confused of what’s currently happening to Demi Lovato’s 4th single off the album Demi (#BuyDemiOnItunesNow), Really Don’t Care. As I’ve observed over the past month of my banning, I felt like it was necessary to properly and respectfully put ya’ll in check. First things first I’m the realest (Sorry I had to say that #BuyFancyOniTunes). Second, Demi’s team has done absolutely EVERYTHING they can at the moment. From 69 cent deals with iTunes AND Amazon, countless morning and night talk shows that get excellent views (but I still see the excuse of “NO ONE’S AWAKE”) and I continue to see members on & off this thread begging for even more promotion after she went on a radio promotion in NYC last month. Do we also need to mention American Idol and the other promotional deals? The music video has support of the LGBT community, another promotional deal and has a decent feature artist that is known. However, I still see ya’ll complaining that “HWR IS DUMB!!! HER MANAGEMENT DOESN’T KNOW HOW TO DO ANYTHING!!!” Even recently saw “SHE NEEDS TO BE ON ANOTHER AWARD SHOW OMG HWR!!!” The next major Award show is The Video Music Awards. Unless her team can convince MTV she can pull viewers, it is NOT happening imo. (However I do think she’ll be nominated for Best Video with a Message – however MTV LOVES Beyonce…and well Pretty Hurts :/ ) Teen Choice Awards should be a given, since she performed last year and hosted the year before (But it seems like she’s trying to reach a broader audience, so her/team might say no). So please Lovatics, LET’S NOT. There’s only so much a label can push before they leave the single to radio + fan support. I’ve only heard Really Don’t Care on my radio twice (it was late at night too). Maybe it’s just where I live because they haven’t added/played any new music since May at the earliest. (Yes, my radio still plays All of Me, Talk Dirty, Can’t Hold Us, Happy and Dark Horse the most). Even comparing most of the popular songs and Demi’s song…there’s a lack of maturity that doesn’t fit with everyone. I’m not going to lie. I BOPPED to Neon Lights with friends in the car. But I get embarrassed when I play Really Don’t Care. Unless something magically happens soon… it’s safe to say this single is going to struggle digitally, maybe even worse than Neon Lights due to the lack of maturity in the sound of the music compared to today’s shift of mature (as in songs that aren’t just fun bops but actual as lyric content – see some of the listed songs above), urban/r&b and saxophone tones. It would have done excellent as a 2nd single but now in 2014? Not sure. I hope you understand why I wrote this. I’m not attacking anyone and I just wanted to post my views on the past, present and future meltdowns of the single. So enjoy the music and support Demi as much as you can. (It’s time to move on to the tour thread soon). Besides, her tour begins early September. You KNOW there are at least 1-2 more promo spots for the tour alone. Good day, God Bless.

I am just impressed that this song is constantly surviving in the Top 40 on iTunes but always seems to plummet to 37-39 everytime it hits #31.
Aaaaaanywayyyy

I agree with all of this. At this moment, I'm just waiting for this era to end and for Demi to really come through with some mature and well thought out music on her next album that can actually gain her some major support in the public. RDC is still doing pretty decently though. We should all be happy with how well radio supports Demi now, compared to its non-existent support in her career beginnings.

I agree with a lot phreshprince said, but I don't disagree with people saying HWR could've done more either because it's true.

Meh, I'm not complaining about how much HWR or her management is doing, just how they're doing it. They obviously put quite some work in Demi lately, but I'm often confused at the timing and/or the handling of the promotion.
But overall I'm content with RDC as it's already exceeded my expectations.
I just really want Demi to make some legitimate mature music for her next album. Songs like RDC won't cut it for me anymore.

This! There's a way to make things mature but still enjoyable and radio friendly. She doesn't have to be bumble gum bop. And I actually consider Neon Lights a great balance of mature and dance.
