I believe in order to be really big the new era needs to appeal both Pop and Urban audiences. A Pop hit alone won't sell that album.

I agree, of course. That's why we see the young pop girls struggling to sell album copies when they sell millions of digital singles. Mariah needs to keep her Urban fanbase. Therefore, this single makes perfect sense. She can release something more pop next but I don't want "Touch My Body" type of pop.
