Yeah, I think people are taking what she said too literally. No one, not even people in the music industry, know what she's up to unless they've worked with her, and based on how Kelly talks about Adele, I know she hasn't. For all we know, Kelly could be referring to the statements made back in like, 2011, saying that it would be more country. It's really nothing new. I'd be fine with it, though, because knowing Adele, it wouldn't be that big of a change for her because she'd be doing classic country, a lot of which is quite similar to some of the soulful stuff she's already done.
And the other thing is, I think that country music gets WAY too many of its own award shows. Honestly, like... Really? What makes you so special that you get like, 20 of your own award shows? And your own TV channel? But it'd benefit us because she'd be more likely to attend more award shows because she'd have to go to all of the country ones, plus the BRITs, the AMAs, the VMAs, the Grammys, etc.
Really, though, I don't think she's going to go too much out of her comfort zone with this record. She already said she'd be sticking with her roots, which means she's going to continue to do soul music. That may expand to some country-influenced stuff, but it's still soul music, which is the important thing. She NEEDS to stay a soul artist. That's what she's good at and that's what made me fall in love with her and her music. She knows that her fans love that her music resonates with people and has so much honesty and heartbreak in it, so... I don't think she'd change that, especially considering that it'll be hard enough for her as it is to make a happier album AND live up to the high expectations set by 21.
