Iraq alone is plagued by wars for decades. Of course extremism is on rise there for a long time. West is trying to force "democracy" on countries where it just cant work because they have absolutely different mentality and way of life. West got rid of Saddam, Gaddafi, Mubarak etc. by force. Yes, their politics was despotic, but at least they were able to keep their countries stable, so people were not killed en masse on daily basis. And the process of overthrowing them caught millions of people in war and death. Yes, each of those despotic leaders had blood on his hands, but so do the Western leaders who destabilized those countries for their own geopolitical reasons and oil. And look where are these countries today. In ruins and chaos, because the pro-West puppet regimes Western countries tried to establish there were not successful because they had no respect and support from people living there. Libya and Iraq are caught in ongoing civil wars and extremists are trying to take control and succeeding there. ISIS was so successful in Iraq because the army simply refused to fight for the regime on many ocassions, like in Mosul when 30 000 soldiers run away instead of trying to fight only 800 Isis terrorists who easily seized one of the biggest and most important cities in Middle East.

Syria was so beautiful and relatively safe not even 6 years ago, people were living there, working, studying, until the West started to support so called "moderate rebels". They armed, trained and financially supported them because the pro-Russian Assads regime was something they wanted to see overthrown with their help, destabilizing the whole country what helped ISIS to spread there, causing terror and destruction. Not mentioning that a lot of the so called "moderate rebels" were in fact radical islamists, including even such extreme individuals like al-Nusra jihadists, a branch of al-Qaeda. It got out of control and West still denies our responsibility for it.

My heart is with all innocent people who were dragged into this madness, suffered and lost loved ones.

RIP to all the victims.

I have to agree with what a few are saying, a tragedy is a tragedy regardless of the death toll and location. However, I find it so sad that all the other tragedies across the globe that are the product of war, get little to no attention from the Western world. Meanwhile the Paris attacks get worldwide coverage and attention (Facebook profile filters, capitals using the French flag colours on famous landmarks). I don't want to go too into politics as I think it's disrespectful to the victims. And I can't stress enough I mean no offense by this post, I am deeply saddened by what happened in Paris, it's just it's part of a bigger picture that a lot of Westernised people can't see.

I really do not know why there is outrage over the lack of media coverage for certain attacks. Let me list a variety of factors besides the "egocentrism of the Western world" that everybody is crying over.

1. These countries DO NOT WANT media coverage of these events. Their leaders has stated time and time again and have showed by their actions that they do not really care for their people so less coverage means their positions won't be in jeopardy.
2. Many of these other attacks are really small in scale. The main reason for media coverage on a planned attack is that another attack is very likely. These small scale suicide bombers are not considered a serious threat for a future attack.
3 Most of these countries have a 3rd world infrastructure meaning the news about this cannot get out as easily or as wide spread. ie. theres less new reporters, people with access to the internet etc all contributing to relatively low information getting out where as in Paris every detail was learned within 24 hours of the attack.
4. The egocentrism does exist. I'm not saying its not a factor but what I mean is that its not that the west doesn't care about these people, they are more concerned for their own safety in their city rather than a destabilized region where these attacks will obviously continue given how many of these eastern nations are basically in proxy civil wars.

The Islamic Community of Bosnia And Herzegovina is paying respect to the victims in Paris.
Bosnia is actually together with Albania one of two countries in Europe with a majorly muslim population.

For those who know anything about the 5 prayers a day in Islam know that one is at 12 am. Out of respect for the ones who died, they will start the prayer 5 minutes later which is not common at all.

And since I know that some here are from the territory of former Yugoslavia (like Shhh for instance who previously called Islam the worst relegion ever) and we basically speak the same language, here is the link

Also, in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo that is predomonantly muslim (almost 90%). One of the most famous builidings in town which was once almost destroyed during the war in Bosnia (by Christians by the way) also shows solidarity with the victims

Your other points are reasonable but I disagree with this one, because in Iraq and Syria there are attacks all the time, yes, some of them small, but also some of them on a bigger scale than the one in France. Yes, the attack in France means there might be more attacks in France in the future, but how does the same not apply everytime there's an attack in Asia or Africa?

ISIS have killed tens of thousands of people in Iraq and Syria, but hardly anybody seems to care. However, I am thrilled to see the support for France all over the world, and I want everybody to continue showing their support.

What has happened in France is tragic, but what has happened in Syria is 10x worse. ISIS had control over around half of Iraq and Syria at one point. Just imagine what it'd be like is ISIS took control over half of France or half of the US. It's tragic.

I am thrilled at everybody's support for France, I hope we can emulate this to show support for ALL victims of ISIS in the future. We need to be united as a species against ISIS. Us deciding that French people are more important than Syrian people will not help.
