Sometimes they don't even release music videos at all! Drake hasn't released a video for Make Me Proud, his 2nd single. Lil Wayne hasn't released a music video for She Will. Jay-Z/Kanye haven't released a music video for H.A.M.

Their fans are so patient and calm for the most part. Imagine how people would've acted if Judas, or S&M, or Firework, or Marry the Night were promoted as singles with no music video?

Not to mention, the big example of Set Fire to the Rain.

That's because visuals play a big part of those artists' successes. A music video isn't always "needed," but those artists' fanbases are also big fans of graphics and spectacles. That's how most pop stars succeed.

Rap works different than pop. We're lucky we're even getting a video for this song. It won't be a spectacle because it doesn't need to be. A minimalist video will have the same effect as a blockbuster one, theres no point of him wasting his money.

TC (the song) is being promoted to Pop audiences, so that logic doesn't work here.

They were so close at one point RITD at 6,1m and PRA at 5,997,000 a little over 100k apart but yeah the grammys gave a push to RITD.

Yeah it does. The song has already gone Top 10, hit #1 on iTunes and currently has 80 Million AI.
Theres no need whatsoever for an extravagant video, it will be just like the Headline/Motto ones. A simple video is all the song needs to push it over the edge & thats what we'll be getting.

Yes, that's most likely what we'll be getting but YM should've given it a more pop audience oriented treatment. More like LTWYL's. It has the potential.

Yes but PRA is still selling good and at some point i see that it again will start selling more than RITD. After all it's second longest charting song with 49 weeks in HOT 100 after RITD.

PRA and RITD will probably be neck and neck for years. I don't see either falling off the radar. PRA has party events and RITD has singing competitions.

No matter what happens down the line I don't think PRA (even though it was the song to reach 6M the fastest) will beat RITD for the fastest song to reach 7M. The Grammys did wonders for RITD.
