Burlesque will be very lucky to cross 40 million in the US. Not exatcly a hit. (Although it will have proven legs IF it reaches 40)

It will have to rely on oversea sales to make money. But they are doing heavy press so there is hope.

$40M is decent if we compare it to burlesque's budget ($55M) but if we'll talk about # of tickets sold which is about 3.5M to 4M audience - that's a hit!

as of Tuesday almost 34,000,000 not including Wednesday or Today's numbers! It also had an increase in sales!

Major international release is Friday! The international effect has not even started!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Burlesque is bound to gain more audience since it's was nominated for Golden Globes! More awards to come!

I'm not trying to downtalk the movie or its success. But it's NOT a big hit in the US!

That's just a fact. A movie, that does not recoup its budget, is not a hit. NOT a hit.

But sure it might become an international hit.
