That is the worst part... I'm still excited and I'm still 100% rooting for her, but I can't possibly be hyped about an album that I already have two thirds of...
I know moving on from a passion project is hard, but can she release Joyride as a mixtape and move on? Please... It's cursed at this point. Or at least give us some new material this year as we wait for Joyride...

the SECOND we heard this garbage we should have all DM'd Tina and said 'keep it sis' , 'next single plz' bc whoever put it in her head that this song was what she needed is someone she needs to cut out of her life immediately

Are you sure it was Tinashe's fault? It sounds like RCA are the ones pushing it. They sent her back into the studio with The-Dream after Player didn't take off in order to create a single worthy song and this is what they came up with so RCA ran with it. That was the point of these sessions and that's why RCA allegedly say that either SL takes off or the album doesn't come out. They don't hear any hits on the rest of the tracklist. They're probably wrong

but this was such an ATTEMPT , my dear sis Truth Teller, and i think everyone can hear that
when she TRIES for commercial success it just comes off so inauthentic and watered down ..... so ya, someone put it in her head that recording this song was gonna get her a shot at chart success when realistically she don't even need to be in that REALM of mind frame yet .... and she seemingly went along with this song enthusiastically ... i get that's the game she has to play as an artist dealing w/ a **** label, but if they're the ones who picked this song she should have the balls to say 'listen this isn't gonna do anything for me this isn't the direction i need to be going we just gotta try again'
granted i get this girl's problem: she has probably missed so many deadlines of turning in a 'hit' record to her label and that's the reason for the push backs but it's like ......... MAYBE THIS GIRL AIN'T GONNA BE THE NEXT RIHANNA.. like yes she very easily could be if america would just wake tf up but i just miss my cute little R&B girl supreme  no one was on her level as a DIY, small scale artist in the vein of Beyoncé ... and her major label life post-Aquarius has just been attempt after attempt. i'm not saying she should NEVER try, she just needs to strike when the time/record is right and that sadly hasn't been the case yet

This is all true tbh... Except for the wrong direction part, cause technically the r&b crossover sound of Superlove is the right direction for her. And even the colorful, goofy, sexy vibe of the video was right for her. But it was apparently the wrong song...
But yeah, in other news, I bopped to SL today at the gym and it still sounds fresh. Poor the rest of you and the GP

This is why I keep saying they should just release it and start over. Joyride is probably messy at this point with all of the back-and-forth plus we've heard half the album. Like girl, move on and try again.

sis, Superlove does NOT fit this description. It is dated, has no hook, confusing, and bad. Maybe this is part of the problem-- they know what the hit should look like on paper but can't make it happen in the studio.
Again I ask, is she demanding to be involved in the songwriting process? That's the only way this makes sense. It shouldn't be that difficult to find a good rhythmic smash, songwriters submit demos all the time, so what's really going on? Does RCA have **** A&Rs? Is she afraid to stand up to them? Is she trying to avoid "popular" or mainstream songwriters/producers? Or worse, can she not tell that these songs will do nothing for her?
One of Rih's biggest successes has been identifying hits. She would fight the Island Def Jam people over singles and whatnot even before Umbrella. Knowing to snatch SOS when Xtina Millian passed on it. She has great instincts. She's someone who's always been able to identify songs that are catchy and good, and even add more catchiness to them. If you are a new artist trying to achieve mainstream success, and you nor anyone on your team can manage to do this, you are kinda screwed. I mean look at Rita. She and Rih had the same A&Rs at one point... Rita trusted them wholeheartedly rather than speaking up or being able to recognize songs that were good for her. I just feel like SOMEONE at RCA should be able to do this? In fact, the second I heard "Make Me..." I thought it could've been a good fit for Ti. Change the production a bit and it would've been a better single option than anything she's released bar Player/Party Favors. I just don't know. This whole thing is baffling to me, all they need is a good song with a hook yet they've spent a year failing to find one

My thing is though, didn't Tinashe say she was pretty much in creative control (at least for Aquarius)? I definitely remember her saying that. 
I don't think this is all RCA's fault.
The ultimate responsibility is on the artist...tbh. If a song doesn't sound like a hit FROM JUMP, don't even record it. A label can't release something that's not recorded. Sure, RCA could have suggested she work with The Dream...but that doesn't mean she has to take any old thing from him either SURELY he could have come up w/ something better than "Company" or "Superlove". He's a little washed up, but he still got it in him...lol.

i've always said Tinashe biggest problem and the major reason she hasn't happen yet is because she and everyone around her are retarded when it comes to hits. I am 100% sure there many potential hits in her library but her and everyone around doesn't have the ear and vision for them. I guarantee you if you send all the 60 songs she recorded to rihanna, rihanna will have an album full of hits and left over hits song for future projects.

Tinashe also work with Timbaland around the same time she work with Tricky/dream and she was super excited about what he was showing her. Timberland has been hit and miss lately but he has produce/co-produce some decent to great bops in recent years unlike tricky and the dreams. Who goes to Dream and Tricky for hits in 2016? and take all the crap song they made and put it on their record? beside nicole of course even beyonce no longer use the dream.

Like Superlove and Company are cute songs for her to perform and slay live, but at its core they are generic thot bops that doesn't really seem to reflect her. She had the potential to be the next big R&B girl but threw that away to chase these watered down pop dreams. Like how do you go from a masterpiece like Amethyst to filler like Player?! 
Nothing about these songs scream hit and no amount of requesting will really change that at this point. This is just giving me Player flashbacks while the she does random promo while knowing nothing about release.
