Big established name, that's what it's about.
If you have a big name and you drop an album out of nowhere, people will talk about it, share links, and discuss it.
People will want to be part of the madness and tons of people will buy it blindly.
Everything inflates since it's available only if you buy it.
If you add those bonus sales to the core fans (who waited 2 years): you have huge sales.
That's what happened to Beyoncé who went from 300k in 7 days for "4" to 1 million+ in 7 days for BEYONCÉ.

I agree. Word of mouth is the best form of promotion. Let fans and the media do the talking.
- I don't think she would do 500k- platinum. But i guarantee she would do 350-400k. TBH Its all about manipulating consumers, if they can't purchase songs separately they're forced to buy the whole product.
Again I do not think Rihanna will surprise release the album but I also don't think she's going to do much promotion or any day/late night talk shows.

Rihanna is NOT lazy. She never stops working. Of course she's no Taylor Swift or Katy Perry when it comes to promo, but she's still the one with 13 #1 hits.
I mean I'd rather have her releasing great albums with little promo (and FFS' promo is nothing to complain about so far) than have her releasing these generic albums with massive promo. We're fans. We should stop worrying about promo sometimes and just enjoy the music and being supportive. Promo and all that **** is Rihanna & Roc Nation's matter.

I honestly don't care if she surprise release or not, i'm just acknowleging the fact that it could happen and i'm fine with it
Yall are acting like it's not possible and that's what baffling to me, at least yall could at least take it into consideration
istan, WeFoundWill ect ... are ALL FOR a traditional release, they're just being realistic considering the history with Roc Nation and the weird secrecy around the project.

Whatever.
I've become VERY impatient and bitter towards her tbh. I know R8 will be worth the wait but I CANNOT handle this wait much longer. I don't care anymore, just give me the music. 45S ha novelty has worn off.

I wouldn't mind a surprise release too much, but yeah: I prefer a traditional release, too. As Mike said, as a stan, a traditional album campaign is more exciting to watch.

But this can't even be a surprise release at this point.
I mean we have the lead single, the video, the promo. We know an album it's coming, so it definitely won't be at all like the other surprise releases like Beyonce's or Drake's

!
A surprise album doesn't have a released single to start with.

We mean she could drop the album without any announcement. But I think she'll do something like announcing the release date 1 week before the album comes out tbh..

Surprise release will be disastrous.
She will set up herself for comparison, not only release wise but also in terms of critical reviews.
People's obvious bias for Beyonce will work against her. + Rihanna doesn't have the meme-like clout about her either.
Besides, Rihanna, at this point, is very about being herself and being Rihanna and building her brand. I don't want her doing something that is so obviously Beyonce.. I don't think she does either. Like it'd set her back and not build her up. Rih needs to (or she's trying to) create her own lane.
Anyway, I'd support a surprise release ( I guess) if FFS wasn't the lead single we got.
But because it is, she gotta play cards right. If this album is gonna be all folk pop esque + the intital response to FFS... I don't think people will be rushing for this. Like as good/cute as FFS or the music it will be, I don't think the sound will go viral. The initial response she'd get might be lower than normal. I think FFS threw people off a bit but it was a grower.
She needs to release a second single(A Night, get that hipster cred with that sample) or a song bit more impactful with the first punch and then do a surprise release or whatever.

I am actually here for a surprise rihlease rather than a traditional one I just think It might be the best solution at this point, but in the end I'm not a record label

She's definitely not going to do a traditional campaign but I do see her doing something like J.COLE and announce like 2 weeks before and she'll probably do her usual SNL+ELLEN.

We'll see plenty of this next month, don't start now

i was gonna say considering it came from kanye's project i doubt it's any indication of what R8 will sound like. plus she will never have an album comprised of one genre, so don't worry about that
