"Tomorrowland": Huge Box Office Flop For Disney
Brad Bird’s tentpole Tomorrowland has narrowly pulled ahead of blockbuster Pitch Perfect 2 at the Memorial Day box office with an estimated three-day debut of $32.2 million, putting its four-day domestic launch at a disappointing $40.7 million for powerhouse Disney.
Tomorrowland came in behind expectations in North America, and will need strong word of mouth to end up in the black, considering the live-action fantasy adventure cost $180 million to produce. Perhaps even more problematic, it was soft overseas, opening to $26.7 million from 65 markets.

"Tomorrowland" is the new "John Carter." Serves Disney right. Why would any movie studio spend $180 million dollars on a film, and put an untalented actor like George Clooney as the lead star? His name has never sold films. He's like the male Angelina Jolie -- all of his films have middling reviews and no gross. The only films he was a part of that made bank was those repetitive "Ocean Eleven" films. And "Gravity" did well because of Alfonso Cuaron's Oscar-winning visual effects, not because of George Clooney acting like George Clooney in space. And I want the director of "Tomorrowland", Brad Bird, dead. He would rather make flops like "Tomorrowland" instead of "The Incredibles 2." Can someone murder him violently? Just asking.
