Have you seen Missy's shows? Nicki's ARENA tour? she isn't the first to do that. I like her music some times, but some of y'all are giving her too much. She's a mediocre rapper on her best days and that's the bottom line.

I can't @ the lies and misinformation. Iggy aint doing nothing that tons rappers before her, both male and female haven't already done. Don't come in here talking about what Iggy "adds" to the genre when you just discovered the genre a few months ago when you decided to buy The New Classic. She doesn't have a third of Missy's creativity, Lauryn's skill, Kim's viciousness, or Nicki's charisma. She's having a moment of local success with a few singles, but all those artists I mentioned shifted albums and singles.

Nicki's true impact

Nicki was from one of the 5 NYC boroughs. There were rappers before her from Queens and there will be after her. She didn't change anything for anyone location-wise. She's made her impact in other ways, including opening the doors for women again.

Iggy has opened the doors for anyone who dreams of being a rap star. You don't have to be from North America to do American-style hip-hop (as in not reggaeton, ragga, etc).


In the context of the article though, she is not the first female rap superstar. She has the potential to be the first white female rap superstar, but that is a different story.

I don't even have to read this thread to know what the comments will say. But the article is reaching and completely BS. I like Iggy for her songs, but her skill level is far below some of the people they are putting her above. Having a few popular songs doesn't equate to her being the first female rapper superstar because as much as I don't like Nicki, her starpower during Superbass/Starships was pretty big. Not as big as some pop girls, but for a female rapper it was unheard of (she had a pop sound like iggy though...)

Iggy would not have HALF of the success she has now without Nicki.
Sure, there were successful female rappers before Nicki but not for a long time. Nicki may not have made the door, but she sure opened it.
