My guess is Russia was frustrated over the Sochi Olympics. Western media made it look like it was a failure. Putin and other russians probably realized the power and influence USA has had ever since the end of the cold war and the breakdown of USSR and the social media and the media itself. So they are probably making a move to extend somewhat their power so the world will feel that they still are a powerhouse in this world. It's probably a negative but I hope this is just a showing of their military power instead of wanting to go to war because they just felt like it.

Anyway, European countries + US must take decisive steps towards Russia. Appeasement was the reason of the IIWW. We simply cannot repeat the mistakes of the past. If we will give Ukraine to Russia, then they will want more and it will be matter of time.
